The submitted plans are approved subject to the following. General requirements A key box for building access may be required. Please contact the local Fire Marshal's Office for an order form and instructions regarding installation and placement. (OFC 506) A separate low- voltage electrical permit is required for installation and inspection of alarm wiring. A completed inspection and testing form is required at the time of final inspection containing the information as outlined in NFPA section 10.6.2.3. TESTING — NFPA 72 Chapter 10, OFC 901.2.1, 901.5, 903.5 1. Upon completion of the installation, a satisfactory test of the entire system shall be made in the presence of the building official and fire code official. All functions of the system or alteration shall be tested. 2. Before requesting final approval of the installation, the installing contractor shall furnish a written statement to the fire code official that the subject fire protection system has been installed in accordance with approved plans and has been tested in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and the appropriate installation standard. Any deviations from the design standards shall be noted and copies of the approvals for such deviations shall be attached to the written statement. 3. The permittee shall provide written certification to the Fire Chief that the system has been installed in accordance with the approved plans and specifications. A copy of the completed form shall be maintained on the premises and made available to the Fire Chief. POWER- NFPA 72 section 4.4.1.2, 4.4.7.3, OFC 907.5 4. All power supplies shall be installed in conformity with NFPA 70. 5. All primary and secondary power supplies shall be monitored for the presence of voltage at the point of connection to the system. The trouble signal also shall be visually and audibly indicated at the protected premises. 6. Connections to the light and power service shall be on a dedicated branch circuit. The circuit and connections shall be mechanically protected. The circuit disconnecting means shall be accessible only to authorized personnel and shall be clearly and permanently marked FIRE ALARM CIRCUIT. CONTROL. NFPA 72 section 4.4.3.5, OFC 907.5 5. All power supplies shall be installed in conformity with NFPA 70. 6. All primary and secondary power supplies shall be monitored for the presence of voltage at the point of connection to the system. VISUAL ALARMS — NFPA 72 - 5.14.5, 7.5.4, OSSC chapter 9 & 11 7. When required; Visual alarms shall be located not less than 80 inches and not more than 96 inches above floor level. When a low ceiling exists, the visual alarm shall be mounted within the dimensions stated above and at least 6 inches below the ceiling. No place in a room shall be more than 50 feet from a visual signal. MANUAL ALARM - 1109.2.3.5, 1109.2.3.6 OSSC 8. Manual Fire Alarm activation devices when installed shall be mounted in the following reach ranges: • Forward Reach - 15 inches to 48 inches above the floor. • Side Reach — 9 inches to 54 inches above the floor. ALARM SIGNALS — OFC 903.4 9. Alarm, supervisory and trouble signals shall be distinctly different and shall be automatically transmitted to an approved central station, remote supervising station or proprietary supervising station as defined in NFPA 72 or, when approved by the fire code official, shall sound an audible signal at a constantly attended location. Approved Plans: 1 set of approved plans, bearing the City of Tigard approval stamp, shall be maintained on the jobsite. The plans shall be available to the Building Division inspectors throughout all phases of construction. 106.3.1 OSSC Premises Identification: Approved numbers or addresses shall be provided for all new buildings in such a position as to be plainly visible and legible from the street or road fronting the property-. When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the enclosed City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal.
