All inspections and tests were performed and reported according to the requirements of Project Documents and, to the
best of our knowledge, the work was in conformance with the approved plans and specifications, approved change orders
and applicable workmanship provisions of the State Building Code and Standards, as well as the structural engineer's
design changes, approvals and verbal instructions.

Re: CWS Durham AB3 Channel Wall Repair — Structural Observation
Dear Joel:
The following structural observation report has been generated based on our site visit made on
12/9/08 to review the installation of channel struts and the process of wall straitening. At the
time of our visit all of the struts had been installed and the Contractor was in the process of
straitening the wall. Based on our observations we found the construction to be proceeding in
substantial compliance with the contract documents. The following items need to be
revised/completed:
• Installation of flat and lock washers on both sides of all connections.
• Completion of wall straitening and grating installation.
• Final adjustments and caulking bolt holes.
• Welding of struts in the cells 3 & 4 area.
• Completion of other items and site demobilization.
We understand that due to project schedule and weather constraints the specified epoxy injection
of the 45 degree cracks in the 8" wall is being deleted. Our inspection revealed that straitening
of the wall has decreased the crack width to the point that self - healing is likely. If, during
normal operations, you note that these cracks or the 8" wall base joint are leaking we
recommend that they be injected or otherwise sealed.
