Itemized below are responses to the review comments for Building Permit # BUP2010-
00157, dated 08- 03 -10: The following correspond with the clouded revision #1 bubbles
found on the drawings:
Review Comments:
Comment 1. Construction requirements for suspended ceiling systems are found in the
Oregon Building Codes Division website under Statewide Code interpretations dated
4/20/2007. (see interpretations {structural} at www.bcd.oregon.gov)
Response 1. Added a box note on A03.1 and details D & G on Al2.1 for suspended ceiling
system seismic designs.
Comment 2. Provide calculations and construction details (including seismic bracing
details for non full height partitions) for all walls. Note: The roof structure may be
•
approximately 30' above the finished floor. OSSC 106.1.
Response 2. Added notes and adjusted wall framing per different structure heights. Refer
to A02.1 for clarification and additional list of details that were affected. See calculations
under separate cover.
Comment 3. Pease provide calculations and construction details for the soffits and
storefront construction. Every structure, and portion thereof, including non structural
components that are permanently attached to structures and their supports and
attachments, shall be designed and constructed to resist the effects of earthquake motions
in accordance with ASCE 7 as modified by Section 1613.7. The seismic design category for
a structure is permitted to be determined in accordance with Section 1613 or ASCE 7.

Response 3. See calculations under separate cover. Refer to revised Architectural sheets
for framing & bracing per Structural Engineers direction, see sheets A02.1, A02.4, A10.1,
A10.1a, A10.4, A10.9, and Al2.1.
Comment 4. Please submit plans and calculations for steel storage racks that comply with
the design requirements of ASCE 7 (15.5.3). i"xa '

Comment 5. Please provide a permit valuation based on the total work being performed
Permit valuations shall include total value of work, including materials and labor, for which
the permit is being issued, such as electrical, gas, mechanical, plumbing equipment,
flooring, ceilings and any fixture attached to the building. If, in the opinion of the building
official, the valuation is underestimated on the application, the permit shall be denied, unless
the applicant can show detailed estimates to meet the approval of the building official. Final
building permit valuation shall be set by the building official.
Response 5. The estimated construction cost of construction is $650,000.
