The submitted plans are approved subject to the following. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS KEY BOX 1. A key box for building access may be required. Please contact the local Fire Marshal's Office for an order form and instructions regarding installation and placement. (OFC 506) TESTING — NFPA 72 Chapter 10, OFC 901.2.1, 901.5, 903.5 2. Upon completion of the installation, a satisfactory test of the entire system shall be made in the presence of the building code official. All functions of the system or alteration shall be tested. 3. The permittee shall provide written certification to the building code official that the system has been installed in accordance with the approved plans and specifications. A copy of the completed form shall be maintained on the premises and made available to the Fire Chief. POWER- NFPA 72 section 4.4.1.2, 4.4.7.3, OFC 907.5 4. Connections to the light and power service shall be on a dedicated branch circuit. The circuit and connections shall be mechanically protected. The circuit disconnecting means shall be accessible only to authorized personnel and shall be clearly and permanently marked FIRE ALARM CIRCUIT 5. All primary and secondary power supplies shall be monitored for the presence of voltage at the point of connection to the system. The trouble signal also shall be visually and audibly • indicated at the protected premises. 6. All power supplies shall be installed in conformity with NFPA 70. ALARM SIGNALS — OFC 903.4 7. Alarm, supervisory and trouble signals shall be distinctly different and shall be automatically transmitted to an approved central station, remote supervising station or proprietary supervising station as defined in NFPA 72 or, when approved by the fire code official, shall sound an audible signal at a constantly attended location. 8. Approved audible devices shall be connected to every automatic sprinkler system. Such sprinkler water -flow alarm devices shall be activated by water flow equivalent to the flow of a single sprinkler of the smallest orifice size installed in the system. DETECTORS — NFPA 72 — 5.4., 5.14 9. Detectors shall be installed in a manner that provides accessibility for periodic maintenance. 10. Detectors shall be supported independently of their attachment to the circuit conductors. 11. Detectors shall not be recessed into the mounting surface unless tested & listed for that assembly. 12. The location of all detectors in air duct systems shall be permanently and clearly identified and recorded. 13. Detectors shall be mounted in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and shall be accessible for cleaning in accordance with NFPA 90A. MANUAL ALARM — NFPA 5.12.4 14. Manual Fire Alarm activation devices operable part shall be mounted not less than 3 1 /2 feet or more than 4 1 /2 feet above floor level and be securely mounted. VISUAL ALARMS — NFPA 72 - 7.5.4, OSSC chapter 9 & 1109.14 15. Visual signal appliances shall be provided in the building in each of the following areas: • Restrooms and any other general use area (e.g., meeting rooms) • Hallways • Lobbies • Common use areas. 16. Visual alarms shall be located not less than 80 inches and not more than 96 inches above the floor level. When a low ceiling exists, the visual alarm shall be mounted at least 6 inches below the ceiling. • No place in a room shall be more than 50 feet from a visual signal. O No place in a common corridors or hallways shall be more than 50 feet (or within 100 feet) from a visual signal. ® In large rooms exceeding 100 feet across and without obstructions 6 feet or more above the floor, devices may be placed around the perimeter spaced at a maximum of 100 feet apart. Approved Plans: 1 set of approved plans, bearing the City of Tigard approval stamp, shall be maintained on the jobsite. The plans shall be available to the Building Division inspectors throughout all phases of construction. 106.3.1 OSSC Premises Identification: Approved numbers or addresses shall be provided for all new buildings in such a position as to be plainly visible and legible from the street or road fronting the property. When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the enclosed City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal.
