The review was performed under the provisions of the State of Oregon Mechanical Specialty Code, 2002 edition (OMSC) and the State of Oregon Structural Specialty Code 1998 edition (OSSC). The plans are approved subject to the following conditions. 1. All duct penetrations of shaft enclosures shall be provided with combination smoke /fire dampers. Smoke and fire dampers shall be closed by actuation of smoke detectors and temperature. OSSC Sections 713.10 and 713.11. 2. Duct openings into or through the required exit passageways and the exit enclosures are prohibited except for independent ductwork serving them. OSSC Sections 1005.3.3.5 and 1005.3.4.4. 3. Duct penetrations of the one -hour floor /ceiling assemblies shall be provided with fire dampers. OSSC Section 713.11. 4. Dampers shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's t'' installation instructions and shall be listed and labeled and shall comply with UL 555 for fire and UL555S for smoke. Ductwork shall be connected to damper sleeves or assemblies in such a way that collapse of the ductwork will not dislodge the damper or impair its proper operation. Dampers shall be provided with an approved means of access, large enough to permit inspection and maintenance of the damper and its operating parts. The access shall not affect the integrity of the fire - resistive -rated assemblies. Access points shall be permanently identified on the exterior by a label having letters not less than '/2 inch in height reading: SMOKE DAMPER or FIRE DAMPER. Access doors shall be tight fitting and suitable for the required duct construction. OSSC Section 607.5. 6. Only fire dampers labeled for use in dynamic systems shall be installed in heating, ventilation and air- conditioning systems intended to operate with fans on during a fire. OSSC Section 713.12. 7. Through or membrane penetrations of other fire - resistive assemblies other than those listed above, shall be provided with approved penetration firestops in accordance with OSSC Sections 710 and 714. 8. Smoke detectors shall be installed in the return air ducts upstream of any filters. OMSC 606 9. A copy of the approved plans shall be on the job site at all times and available to the City of Tigard inspectors for inspection purposes.
