Correspondence (140) (20p2, Ooc)(._, „EL ANKROM MOISAN ASSOCIATED ARCHITECTS March 31, 2003 Mr. Gary Lampella, Building Official City of Tigard 13125 SW Hall Blvd Tigard Oregon 97223 Re: Green Office Building, SW 67` Avenue and SW Atlanta Dear Mr. Lampella: On behalf of Joe Green, Jr., we request approval of plan modifications to above referenced office building. To accommodate symmetrical design considerations in the Gallery, and to avoid reversing the plumbing and restroom arrangements, we wish to relocate the pair of doors, number 7, on floors 2 and 3 to positions directly above the pair of doors, number 6, on the first floor, approximately at the center of the building. These doors will be changed to bi -swing doors, number 6, as they are on the first floor. The exit passageway and doors on the first floor will not change. Alternative construction and door location were revised from the original plans for creation of exit passageways on each of the floors. Only the first floor was modified to have restrooms entering into the exit passageway. This alternative to code requirements was approved by the City of Tigard in response to our letter dated October 25, 2003. The same measures will be observed in the relocation of the doors on the second and third floors. As on the First floor, the restrooms on the second and third floor in this proposed revision enter onto the proposed Exit Passageway. As an alternative to the requirement of 1005.3.4.4, these rooms will be protected by two -hour fire rated wall construction of 2x4 wood studs at 16" O.C. covered with two layers of type X gypsum board (GA File No. WP 4136) and a floor ceiling assembly of T & G sheathing over TJI joists and 5/8" • gypsum board ceiling supported by resilient channels. NER -200 ASSEMBLY E -7 and the doors will be 90- minute fire and S rated. The building is protected by an automatic sprinkler system, not otherwise required by code. This measure further adds to the equivalency of the above proposed alternatives. Smoke detection is proposed only for automatic door release and alarm annunciation only as required by NFPA for fire sprinklers. 6 s.w.
