It is our understanding that this Tight fixture support assembly is being added as part of new tenant improvement project that is currently in progress. Per information received from Patterson Dental, the proposed track light monitor weighs 130 pounds. Per drawing A4.1 of the tenant improvement drawings, the track light monitor will be supported by (2) vertical 2 x 4's nailed to the side edge of a flat 2 x 12 with 16d nails at 12" on center throughout the length of the assembly. It is our understanding that this assembly spans approximately 10' - 0" with connections at the adjacent supporting walls being provided with a 20 gage cold formed steel track and (2) #8 screws at each vertical stud. Per our calculations the assembly has adequate strength (50% stressed) to span the distance proposed. Calculated fully loaded deflection is approximately 3/8 ". Per our discussion, intermediate steel stud braces in each direction are typically provided at approximately mid -span for additional strength and stiffness. We suggest that these stud braces be installed prior to installation of the track light monitor.
