DISCUSSION AND PREPARATION FOR JOINT CITY COUNCIL/LIBRARY BOARD MEETING The Board continued their discussion on preparations for their annual presentation to the City Council on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Library Board members who will be able to attend the City Council meeting are Mary Bogert, Candice Coleman, Kate Ristau, and Shirley Edwards. 8. DIRECTOR’S REPORT Readers Services Manager Amber Bell presented the Director’s Report in Director Bernard’s absence. The report contained updates on library services and programs. Of note this past month: We began opening the library lobby doors at 9:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, to give community members access to restrooms and a place to gather prior to the opening of the library. Adult Services is offering several one-on-one programs, including tech help and resource connection for seniors. The resource connection for seniors helps connect qualifying individuals for Meals on Wheels and short-term intervention for those in need. A detailed update was provided on the Library’s Innovation Team and related projects. The current iteration of the Library Innovation Team was structured in the summer of 2022, and the team began meeting monthly in September 2022. The Team consists of people from the various divisions of the library and includes people in both represented and management positions. Project proposals are submitted from folks across the library. The Team discusses and then assigns project management teams to see projects through to completion. The general criteria for Innovation Team projects are that the project would affect more than one division of the library and that it connects to the library strategic plan. 9. OTHER BUSINESS No other business was discussed. 10. ADJOURNMENT Chair Bogert adjourned the meeting of the Tigard Library Board at 7:47 p.m. We will continue to conduct the meetings as hybrid meetings.
