Library Board Chairperson Mary Bogert will introduce each member of the Board to the City Council, the night of the Council meeting. S. DIRECTORS REPORT Library Director Halsted Bernard presented the Director's Report, which contained updates on library services and programs. Of note: • Saturday, March 19 we saw 698 people walk through the library's doors. This is the highest number of patrons we had visiting the library since March 2020 when we had to close the library doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are slowly getting back to the number of daily visitors we had pre-COVID. • From March 23-25, 38 Tigard Public Library teammates—that's over 75% of our team, attended at least one day of the national Public Library Association Conference in Portland. Meanwhile, we were still able to provide full library services and hours to the community. The conference allowed library teammates to learn about the latest trends and best practices in the public library field. • On April 20, 2022 Leadership Tigard, in partnership with Just Compassion of East Washington County and the City of Tigard will host an I.D. Workshop at the Tigard Public Library. This workshop is a community-based effort to support the houseless community in Tigard and Washington County by providing access to resources to help navigate the process to obtain an Oregon Identification Card. The lack of an I.D. is one of the biggest barriers someone experiencing houselessness faces. The goal of this grant project is to create inclusive opportunities for young people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to learn about a career in librarianship and to do so while learning job skills and earning money. 9.
