CALL TO ORDER: Chair Mary Bogert called the meeting to order at 6:37 p.m. 2. Reh, Confidential Executive Assistant 3. APPROVE LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES The minutes from the October 13, 2021 Tigard Public Library Board meeting were reviewed. No changes were suggested. Motion by Jim Ivler. Second by Shirley Edwards to approve the October 13, 2021 minutes as written. They will be posted on the City website. AGENDA ADDITIONS, DELETIONS,AND FOLLOW-UP ITEMS To follow-up to an inquiry by Candice Coleman during our policy discussion in October, the length of time that Wi-Fi is available after hours may fluctuate, therefore it is not part of the verbiage in the Acceptable Use Policy for Library Technology. Wi-Fi availability will be documented in library procedures for staff. ICE BREAKER Library Director Bernard introduced the ice breaker for the evening. Everyone shared something unique about themselves. 6. MEET THE TEAM: KATIE NELSON-VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR Our guest for the evening was library teammate Katie Nelson. Katie has been the Volunteer Coordinator for the past five and a half years. One thing that she has found pleasantly surprising about herjob is the large amount of people who want to volunteer. Katie has worked with the volunteers throughout the COVID pandemic and has provided many remote volunteer opportunities during this time. Recently, volunteers have been brought back into the building in a limited capacity. She has been working at getting as many scheduled as she can. She stated our volunteers come from all walks of life with an array of experience that reflects the Tigard community as a whole. 7. LIBRARY PUBLIC POLICY UPDATE DISCUSSION Study Room Use The Board reviewed and discussed the Study Room Use policy. This policy was last reviewed on February 12, 2020. Motion by Chris Allen. Second by Kate Ristau to approve and re-adopt the Study Room Use policy. Motion was approved unanimously. 8. AMERICAN LIBRARY ASSOCIATION (ALA) POLICY REVIEW ALA Access to Library Resources and Services for Minors: An Interpretation of the Library Bill of Rights The ALA Access to Library Resources and Services for Minors was last reviewed by the Library Board on October 9, 2019. Motion by Shirley Edwards. Second by Jim Ivler to endorse and reaffirm the ALA Access to Library Resources and Services for Minors. Motion was approved unanimously. 9. DIRECTORS REPORT Director Halsted Bernard presented the Director's Report, which contained updates on library services organized according to the strategic priorities of the 2021-2026 Library Strategic Plan. All library teammates attended an Understanding and Identifying Microaggressions training webinar. • The new City of Tigard website was launched on November 1. • Our Library of Things collection is growing. It now includes a GoPro camera with many accessories, and an anatomically accurate human torso. • The Friends of the Library have been welcomed back into the library. They are busy getting caught up on the backlog of books. The self-serve lobby book sales are up and running again. We are not yet ready to start receiving donations from the public yet. 10. OTHER BUSINESS No other topics of business was discussed. 11.
