WORKSHOP

Members Present: Michael Freudenthal, Brian Davies, Trisha
Swanson and Kelly Jean Johnson
Members Absent: Jason Ashley, Scott Bernhard, Shelly
Rodriguez, Barry Albertson and Katherine Meads
Staff Present: Dan Plaza, Diane Kuhn
The workshop was called to order at 7:06 p.m.
A moment of silence was held in remembrance of
September 11, 2006.
Discuss 09/19/06 Joint Meeting with the Council to explore initiating a small, pilot
recreation program in 2007-2008. Michael stated that the memo was well prepared.
• Trish commented on the memo that we don't talk about that we want to partner
and support these existing programs.
• Initial budgetary consideration. Dan stated that if the Council gives direction to
pursue, then we will create a budget.
• Confident to move forward.
• Tell the Council how you personally feel.
Dan listed four points of interest:
• Defining moment.
• Watershed moment .
• Family Friendly.
• Survey

Ideas of how the Board wants to structure the meeting:
• Discuss the history of how we arrived at this point.
• Discuss financing options at the end of the meeting.
• Services currently being offered compared to other cities.
• Reference to city sizes.
• Need to bring people to our community.
• Recreation program is positive.
• Use positive focus.
• Give a short testimony of why we joined the Park &Recreation Board.
• Close with a testimonial
• Need to be involved.
• People moving to the community will visit first and see what we have to offer.
• Citizen's who stay in the community, spend money in the community.
• Business involvement and support.
• Establish a relationship with the school district
• Good programs will draw people
• Financial aspects.
• A modest recreation program, with a lot of potential, and low investment up front.
Chairman Michael stated that based on the outline,he will put together an e-mail ,
reminding everyone of the meeting, asking for their attendance.
Trisha commented on the City of Wilsonville, and water parks.
CCI Appointments—Michael scheduled in August, and Kelly will attend in September.
