Tigard Public Library Board Minutes
MEETING DATE/TIME: Thursday, October 15,2020 6:30 p.m.

1. CALL To ORDER:
Chair Harris called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL

3. APPROVE MINUTES
The minutes from the August 12, 2020 Board meeting were reviewed. These minutes were not
approved in September due to the September meeting being cancelled due to hazardous air quality
caused by wildfires in the surrounding area.
Motion by Suzanne Sikora. Second by Mary Bogert to approve the August 12,2020 minutes as
written.

4. AGENDA ADDITIONS AND DELETIONS
There were no suggested changes or deletions.
5. LIBRARY OPERATIONS
Library Director Bernard updated the Board on activities and decisions made since the August
meeting. Our building remains closed to the public as it has been since March 14, but library services
remain available 24/7 online. Additionally,we continue to offer Library Takeout services: Our patrons
can return materials 24/7 in our book drop, place and pick up holds, and receive reference assistance
at our walk-up service desk. (Library Takeout services were temporarily shut down from September
14-17 due to the hazardous air quality caused by the Oregon wildfires.)
Library management continues to plan for increased services for patrons. In our planning,we must
balance patron needs and staffing realities, and we are limited by building spaces that were designed
pre-COVID. We continue to follow the guidelines of the Washington County Public Health
Department and the Oregon Health Authority, and we are also working to meet all of the new OSHA
requirements for operations.

6. OTHER BUSINESS
Halsted shared that the proposal to eliminate overdue fines has been approved by the WCCLS Executive
Board and will be submitted to the Washington County Board of Commissioners for their consideration
and vote on November 3,2020.
7. ADJOURNMENT
Chair Harris adjourned the meeting at 7:00 p.m.
