The complete test data is included as attachments to this research report. The client provided the test specimen. The specimen was constructed on the date of testing. Test Methods The acoustical tests were not conducted in accordance to any established testing standards. The testing procedure was developed by the client. Test Procedure All testing was conducted in the VT test chambers at Intertek-ATI located in York, Pennsylvania. The microphones were calibrated before conducting the tests. The airborne transmission loss measurements were made with reference to the procedure used in the ASTM E 90 test method using the single direction method. Two background noise sound pressure level and five sound absorption measurements were conducted at each of five microphone positions. Four sound pressure level measurements were made simultaneously in both rooms, at each of five microphone positions. The impact sound transmissionmeasurements were made using a procedure developed by the client. Two background noise sound pressure level measurements and five sound absorption measurements were conducted at each of five microphone positions. Several impact sound pressure level measurements were conducted with a tapping machine exciting each of the floor zones separately. The standard also prescribes a single-figure classification rating called "Impact Insulation Class, IIC" which can be used by architects, builders and code authorities for acoustical design purposes in building construction. The IIC is obtained by matching a standard reference contour to the plotted normalized one-third octave band sound pressure levels at each test frequency.
