We visited the property on Monday, March 16, with Doug Dunkelberg and assessed the requirements with him. We can prepare plans and calculations for submittal to the City of Tigard for permitting. OBJECTIVES The JAS team understands that you need engineering services to repair the vehicle damage to the Speedy Auto Glass building at the address noted above. The car damage is at the front and left walls of the repair bay corner and covers 11' of the left wall and 4' of the front wall. Due to the damage to the walls, we recommend replacing the framing in these portions of the walls and anchoring the existing roof framing for this distance. The foundation wall appears to be not damaged and should be able to be reused. There is a brick veneer facing on this 4' front corner and 50'-3" down the side wall that must be replaced due to the fact that it won't be possible to match the existing brick. The brick veneer extends 10' up the wall to the mansard framing on the front and down the side. The JAS team will address the structural damage of the wall due to the car and will be preparing plans, engineering and calculations for a complete permitting packet. We have also provided estimated fees to provide the permitting service at the City of Tigard if you would like us to do this (see the "compensation" section of the contract). We understand you would like us to provide structural calculations and drawings for the design of the rebuild/replacement of this portion of wall. The existing roof framing appears to be undamaged and will need to be shored for the wall to be rebuilt and then reattached to the wall. The rebuilt brick veneer will need to be attached to the wood wall framing to resist seismic forces. JAS ENGINEERING INC. • 1419 WASHINGTON ST. The scope of the project is to provide plans showing the location and extent of the replaced wall framing. We will provide shear wall plans to resist the code required wind and seismic forces for this right front corner and left side walls that are being rebuilt, but will only address these walls due to the limited area of vehicle impact and no apparent damage to the other walls of the building. JAS Engineering will provide the design to meet the code required roof snow load and dead load forces. Structural details will be provided to show the construction requirements for the roof rafters to wall connections and shear wall to foundation connections. We will show non- structural elements such as replacement insulation requirements for the section of rebuilt wall.
