Inspection Notes (Include location, testing data,substitutions/deviations,materials,and methods of construction, conformance statement, etc,)
TYPE OF OBSERVATION:
Building 3 Deck Footing Subgrades
GeoPacific Engineer, Jim Imbrie, conducted a site visit yesterday to observe several deck footings, four of which had
been undermined and toppled over by an electrical trench. The footings are 12 inches by 12 inches square by about
18 inches deep. The four affected footings were reset; however, in addition, we recommend that all of the footings be
firmly set into place by tamping the top of the footings with a"jumping jack" type compactor. Once all of the footings
are tamped for at least 30 seconds, the allowable bearing pressure may be assumed to be 1,000 psf.
