Pursuant to your request,we have prepared this letter to address the front exterior wall at the 16' garage door opening. It has been
reported to our office that the wall was framed following the portal frame detail,using a continuous header to span the full width of the
wall. Therefore,the (3)2x6 full height king studs, as specified on plan, were not installed. Photos have been submitted from the field
for verification.
Based on our evaluation,the Simpson MSTA49 strap shall be installed on the inside face of the wall at each side of the opening per
detail 3/SD-3.In addition,(1)Simpson LS90 dip shall be installed at each end of the header,connecting it to the perpendicular wall
framing into it at each side.Upon installation of the hardware described here within,it is the professional opinion of this office that the
as-built framing is acceptable.
