Process for Closing-Off the Garage Door/Trade-Off s
1. We will create a seal and r the garage door to prevent water/moisture/debris/pests from getting through. This will be done by installing
an L-Shape Flashing that ill have silicone caulking under and above it to adhere to both the concrete floor and the bottom of the garage
door.
2. The L-Shape Flashing will then be screwed in place onto the garage door. Silicone caulking will also be applied all around the garage
door. This will ensure a tight seal.
3. We will then frame around the entire garage door with 2x4's.
4. Once framed, the garage door will be screwed into the 2x4's to be held in place in order to remove all railings, tracks and any other
hardware. This framing will also get caulking in any gaps between the frame and the door for a tight seal.
5. Once the door is sealed/framed/secured in place and the entire wall furred out R- Insulation will be installed on all exterior walls of
the garage as a heat trade-off for keeping the concrete floor as is. R25 c-.u t r. {'°r -r c,_ s c E
6. R-49 Insulation will be installed for the ceiling.
7. Installation of sheet rock throughout garage walls and ceilings.
Additional Trade-Off's
8. A 3x3 window and a 60"x80"patio door will be installed on the South Wall for ventilation and light.
9. An Electric Tank-less Water Heater will be installed to replace an outdated tank water heater.

-WB T:
Garage conversions to living space; one and two family dwellings
RESOLUTION NOTES:
We agreed that we would accept the following as an alternative method of construciton (SECTION
R104.11) when converting a Group U garage to living space under the OREGON RESIDENTIAL
SPECIALTY CODE: A. energy trade-offs to be used in lieu of slab edge insulation; walls R-15,
ceilings R-49, windows .036 and doors .020. B. waterproofing paint to be used in lieu of floor vapor
barrier provided it can be demonstrated to meet the required perm rating. C. all other code
requirements must be met for the proposed type of use, including but not limited to: light and
ventilation, smoke detection, and emergency egress. D. site specific and climatic requirements will be
left to the disgression of the building official.
Meeting Date: 5/9/2008 Code ID#: 18
SUBJECT:
Handicap parking space complaints in existing parking lots
RESOLUTION NOTES:
Bob Moore asked the group when they would act on a complaint and when to apply the new code
provisions to an existing parking lot. Portland has a program that where there is evidence (records)
that indicate disabled parking had been required as part of the development, action will be undertaken
to maintain the disabled parking. An existing parking lot may be restriped to the same configuration
as original. For a new configuration, the new disabled parking provisions are required. The general
consensus was to follow this approach.
Meeting Date: 7/10/2009 Code ID#: 1
SUBJECT:
Hazardous exhaust systems in nail salons.
RESOLUTION NOTES:
Dave asked if others required the same type exhaust for pedicure stations as they would for mainicure
stations. The code only specifies manicure stations, not pedicure. It was mentioned that the reason
for the maincure exhaust requirements was not for the nail polish fumes, but for the acrylic adhesives
and dust created by the artificial nails. This is not typically found with a pedicure station. The group
agreed that only manicure stations should require the exhaust systems.
