BULLETIN
Date: September 18,2018 Number:CT-03 Project#: 17155
Project Name: Sunset Ridge SF Attached: None
Subject: All Lots—Shearwall Nailinlg at Main Floor Level
Drawings Affected:
Description/Action:
This bulletin provides response to RFI's, design clarifications and/or variation requests for the
'Sunset Ridae SF' project located in North Plains, Oregon.
The exterior shearwall nailing at the main floor/foundation level can be accomplished as shown on
either detail 1/S1.1 or detail 6/S1.1 (it is not required to satisfy both conditions).
* Constructing per detail 1/S1.1 provides a load path that bypasses the bottom plate nailing
requirements for the first floor shearwalls provided the wall sheathing extends down to and is
attached to the sill plate. The wall sheathing shall also be attached to the bottom plate of the first
floor shearwall and, if applicable, the top and bottom plate of the pony/cripple wall between the main
floor framing and concrete stem wall as shown on detail 1/S1.1.
* Constructing per detail 6/S1.1 would require the bottom plate of the first floor shearwall be
attached to the rim (and, if required, an additional 1-1/2"minimum blocking) below because the wall
sheathing is not continuous to the sill plate. Please note that this additional blocking is only required
when there is more than one row of bottom plate nails.
