re: Warren deck
15364 SW Seine Dr
Tigard, OR 97224
You designed a new 16'x 35'-6"deck attached to the house..Your drawings are acceptable
with the following notes and adjustments. My attached notes show the basis for the adjusted specs.
1. On page 2 add a second diagonal brace on the right side of the deck. Show the long
dimension—35'-6".
2.On page 3 increase the beam size to 6x10.With cantilevered beams, all the post caps will
be PC6Z—no end caps. The joist size can be either 2x12 or 2x10 at 16" o.c., or 2x8 at 12"
o.c. Check with the manufacturer for maximum joist spacing—with 1x6 composite decking,
I think that you would be better off with 12"joist spacing.
3.The railing posts need to screw into solid blocking that is screwed to the joists. You will
likely have some short pieces of 6x8 that would be appropriate for this blocking.
