The plans for this tenant improvement project have been examined with
reference to fire safety regulations and we are listing as follows require-
ments which must be observed during the course of development and for which
we found no provisions in the s'ibmitted drawings.
1 . All doors shown on the drawings must be openable from the
inside at all times for immediate exit wihout the use of
a key, !)ectal knowledge or effort.
2. Full automatic sprinkler protection is required. Accord-
ingly, the automatic sprinkler system within this building
must be altered and extend;:' to nrovide full coverage for
this '-oject area.
3. The plans suhn'tted to and examined by this office contain
no heating, ventilation or air conditioning plans. Prior
to the extension of the HVAC system into this project space
plans therefore must be submitted to and approved by a
representative of this o`fic?.
4. One set of approved plans hearing the stamps of the Washing-
ton County Building Department and this office must be

commentary which follows concerns requirements for which provi -
sions ,fere not shown on the submitted drawings .
From our telephone conversation of April 24 , we understand that
the " p'Iblic" corridor will be one-hour construction and will be
assembled in conformity with drawing RD-2 , a copy of which is
herewith enclosed .
Access openings int the public corridor must be served by self-
closing and latching smoke and draft. ,:ontrol door assemblies hav-
ing a rated and labeled fire resistance of no less than 20 min-
utes . Each door assembly must be fitted with gaskets where the

From reviewing our records for this building , we find that ori -
ginall ; it was classified as type V-N construction . which is
fully permissible for a building of this height and area having
complete automatic sprinkle- protection . However . our experience `
has been that all materials , to date , used in the construction of 1

this building have been non-combustib' e . From reviewing the
drawings for this project , it is rot possible to discern the
materials whicn will be employed . Thus , If wood framing is em-
ployed then firestopping must he provided in all walls and par-
titions at ceiling lines .. Penetrations made in this prescribed
firestopping to accommodate wiring , plumbing , duct work and simi -
lar utility runs must be packed , following the installation of
said utility runs , in a manner which will effectively maintain
the integrity of the firestopping and cut ott all concealed draft
openings which could afford a passage for flame .
The exit doorway leading into th , s .airway must be indicated by a
fully illuminated exit sign having letters not less than 6 inches
in height with the principle stroke 0ing not less, than 3/4 inch
in width . The sign must be illuminated by two electric ' amps
having an intensity of 5 .0 foot ce.ndles in each instance . One
lamp may be served by the regular electrical illumination cir-
cuits within the building . The second lamp must be served by an
"emergency" circuit used only for the illumination of exit signs
and the emergency lightinc of exit corridors .
In this same vein , the exit corridor must be illuminated at all
times the building is rccupied to a value of 1 foot candle mea-
sured at the floor . A sufficient number of illumiration fix-
tures must be provided on the "emergency" circuit which will ful -
fill this requirement . I
The automatic sprinkler system must be altered and extended to
provide full protection for this project area c.id the public
corridor . Ceiling-mounted automatic sprinkler heads mus nut he
located closer than 4 inches ( preferably 12 inches ) and nor more
than 7 1/2 feet from walls , partition and similar bulk heads .
Plans for the alteration of the sprinkler protection must be sub-
mitted to and approved by .i representative of this office .
One set of approtied plans nearing the stamps of the Washington
County Building Department and this office must be maintained on
the project site throughout all phases of construction and must
be made availab' e to building and fire incpec '.ors for reference
during required construction inspections . Suca inspections arc
rec,uired prier.- to the cover or any new framing elements and prior
to the occupancy of the project space .

tained from the Washington County Building Department .

jurisdiction and this office prior to installation or alteration.
