The plans submitted for the above referenced tenant space are appr3ved
for constriction insofar as the requirements of the Land Development
Services Division apply subject to the following listed items.
11 The tenant spare must be separated from the public corridor by
construction having not less than a one-hour fire-resistive
rating. Door cpenings into the corridor must he ,., 'tected by smoke
and draft control assemblies having not less thaw a 20 minute
fire-resisitive rating. The doer must be gasketed along both sides

The plans for this tenant imprcvement project indicated as being located
in the southeast sector of the third story of the Plaza West Building have
been examined with reference to currently applicable fire safety regulations.
As the result we are listing as follows those requirements which must be
otserved during the course of development and for which we found no pro-
v',sions in the submitted dr'wings.
1 . All materials employed in the construction process must
be noncomhustible.
2. In addition to being a 20-minute-labeled assembly (i .e.
door, frame, finish hardware, etc. ) , the door assembly
which serves the access opening into the public corridor
must be self-closing and lat,:hing and must br, fitted
with a casket where the door meets the stop on both
sides and across the top.
3. All relights installed in the corridor wail must be
composed of wired glass set in fixed steel framing.
4. The suite must be totally "fire isolated" from the
puhlic corridor by construction having a full one-hour
fire-resistance rating. That is, the public corridor
walls rust extend from structural slab to structural
slab and must be constructed of an assembly of
materials which has been tested and apprcved for a
fire-resistance rating of not less than one hour.

5. All doors shown on the drawings must be openable from
the inside for immediate e>.ic without the use of a key,
special knowledge or effort.
6. One set or approved plans bearing the stamps of the
Washington County Building Department and this office
must be maintained on the project site throughout all
physes of construction and must be made available to
building and fire inspectors for reference during required
construction inspections.
7. Inspection and approval of construction by a represen-
tative of this office is required:
a) prior to the cover of any new framing elements
(wall and partition studs, ceiling track, etc.).
b) upon completion of const'uction and prior to
the us? and occupancy of this tenant space.
F. Prior to the use and occupancy of this tenant space a
Certificate of Occupancy or other written instrument of
approval .oust be obtained from the Washington County
Buildinc Department.
Subject to the foregoing stipulations the plans for this project are hereby
.Approved. I trust this letter will assist in clearing the way for its further
aevelopment. If I can be of seryl in any other way, please let me know.

The revised plans for the development of this suite to house the above-
named tenant has been examined and we find that they reflect the
arrangement which we verbally approved during our conference on December 3
with Mr. Dale Holm representing your client.
One comment, however, if the door in the one-hour fire-resistive occupancy
separation between the work area and the office area is not maintained in
a closed position, that is , if we ever find it blocked open, then we will
inmediately require that a smoke detecting mechanism which will automatically
calse the door to close he °nstalled.
Both your client and the tenant should be made `ully aware of this stipu-
lation.
Incidr.ntally, and for the record, it is understood that all construction
employed in the development of this project will be noncombustible; i .e.
steel studs, rineral acoustical til •, etc.

and design portion of the tenant space. This wall is not an actual
occupancy sroaration, but was accepted as an alternate to providing

Duct penetrations through this wall must be protected by fire
dumpers approved for the instailatinn.

The plans for the development of the office wuito to house the above-
noted henant have been ekaminea in reference to -urrently applicable fire
safety regulations.
As mentioned in our telephone conversation of November 28 Lhe interior •,
corridor system, is required to be "fire isolated" from the remainder of
the suite and the remainder of the building by construction having a
full one-hour fire-resistance rating. That is, the conference room,
secretarial work area and similar spaces cannot be located within the
corridor atmosphere.
Corridors which serve as a required means of egress for a potential
occupant load of 30 or more, based upon floor area . ,are required to be
one-hour fire-resistive construction and all access ripenings leading
irto such corridors are reqoired to be served by self-closing and
latching smoke and draft stop door assemblies having a rated and labeled
fire resistance of not less than 20 minutes. HVAC penetrations must be
fire dar'rpQred and relights, •,here they occur, must be composed of wired
glass set in fixed steel frames.
All doors within this suite must he openable from the inside at all times
for immediate exit without the use of a key, special knowledge or effort.
Until the issue of the corridor has been satisfactorily resolved we are
0 obliged to withhold endorsement of the building permit for this project.

been damaged and dislodged by the installation of the anchors for the

lhr pari for this tenant improvement project has been examined with refer-
ence to the currently applicable regulations of this jurisdiction and we
have given it conditional approval based upon the following stipulations.

openable from the inside for immediate exit without the use of a key,
special knowledge or effort, the corridor to suite access door assembly
must have a rated and labeled fire resistance of not less than 20 minutes
and must be fitted with gaskets where the door meets the stops on both
sides and across the top.
One set of approved plans bearing '.Fie stv,ps of the Washington County
Building Departmcrt ane this offi,e .wt be rrsaintained on the project
site throug' out all phases of con:tru,Ltion and must be made available
to building and fire inspectors for reference during required construction
inspections. Int„,ectiu'r and approval of construction by a representative
of this office is required before drywall cover of any new framing
elements and p•-ior to )ccupancy of the tenant s,'ace. Also, prior to
the occupancy of the tenant space, a Certificate of Occupancy or other
written instrument of ippro',al must be obtained from the Washington
County Building Department.

The plans for the development of additional tenant spaces in the fifth
story to be occupied ty Memorex, CCN Insurance and Security Pacific
Mortgage Corporation have been examined with reference to the currently
applicable fire safety regulations cf this jurisdiction.
As mentioned in our telephone conversation of March 27, we cannot
approve issuance of the building permit for the Memorex suite since
the corridor system as shown has a dead end depth of some 49.5 feet.
Under the provisions of Section 3305 of the Uniform Building Code,
an adopted regulation of this jurisdiction, deadend corridors within
office suites may have a depth of not to exceed 30 feet.
The plans for the CCN Insurance and Security Pacific Mortgage
Corporation spaces are approved subject to the tollowing conditions:
1 . All construction is one-hour tire-resistive and
composed of noncombustible materials.
2. Public corridor access door assemblies have a rated
and labeled fire resistance of not less than 20
minutes, are self-closing and -latching and are
fitted with gaskets where the door meets the stops

elements and again upon completion of construction and p-ior to the
occupancy of ear-h tenant space.

Occupancy or other written instrument of approval must be obtained
from the Washington County Buiilinq Department.
