Plans on the referenced project have been reviewed by this
office and are :;proved for construction subjecr to the
following:

1. The required rear exit from the sales area sha11 not
pass through the stock room. A corridor 44 inches
wide minimum shall extend through the stock room to
the rear exit. Reference Section 3303(e) , S.B.C.
2. Provide illuminated exit signs as necessary to
accommodate revision to exiting. Reference Section
3314, S.B.C.
3. Firestopping consisting of 2-inch (nominal) lumber,
gypsum plasterboard or equivalent material is required
to cut off all concealed draft openings (both vertical
and horizontal) and shall form an effective barrier
between stories and between a top story and roof
space. It shall be used in specific locations as
follows:

a) In ail wood-framed walls and partitions at floor
and ceiling lines.
c) At maximum horizontal Intervals of 10 feet in
the case of doubles stud walls, partitions and
furred spaces.
d) Penetrations made in this prescribed
firestopping to accommodate wiring, plumbing,
duct work and similar utility runs must be
packed. in a manner, which will effectively
maintain the integrity of the firestopping and
cut off all concealed draft openings which could
afford a passage for flame. Reference Section
2516, S.B.C.
4. Suspended ceilings and fixtures shall be supported and
laterally braced as specified in UBC Standard 47-18.
5. Plans for the installation or alteration of the
automatic sprinkler system must be provided to and
approved by fire marshal 's office having jur?sdiction

Dear Mr. Barry:
A fire and life safety plan review was conducted on the above-
captioned project for compliance with the 1985 editions of the
Uniform Building Code (UBC) , Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC ) , and
the Uniform Fire Code (UFC) as amended by Washington County Fire
District' s Ordinance 86-1 .
Plans are approved as submitted provided an additional exit light
is added that can he seen from all places in the store around the
handicapped dressing room. This exit sign shall be illuminated
and have a directional arrow sign pointing towards the exit fire
corridor leading past the storage room.
Automatic Sprinkler Plans: Plans referred to and examined by
this office contain no provisions for the alteration or instal-
lation of an automatic sprinkler system. Not less than three
sets of plans for the installation shall be submitted to this
office for approval prior to installation.
