E. 20th Avenue Portland, Oregon 9720 Dear Mr. Brunn: Re: H K Limited Washington Square The plans for the remodeling of this tenant space have been examined with reference to currently applicable fire safety regulations and as a result we are listing requirements which must he observed duriig the course of development and for which we found no specific provisions on the submitted drawings. 1 . In the void space between the existing wall and the wood paneling which is applied to the one by four stripping, firestopping must be provided at maximum horizontal intervals of 10 feet. That is, no con- cealed combustible void space may exceed 10 feet in any dimension. In addition, firestopping must be provided in wood frame construction at floor and ceiling lines. 4 Penetrations made in this prescribed firestopping to accommodate wiring, plumbing, duct work and similar utility runs must be parked, following the installation of said utility runs, in a manner which will effectively maintain the integrity of the firestopping and cut off all concealed draft openings which could afford a passage for flame. (ref: Sec. 2516 U.B.C.1 STOP FIRES- SAVES LIVES 41 • Mr. Lorentz Brunn . April 3, 1984 Page 2 2. The installation of walls, baffles, partitions, etc. , which will interfere with the spray pattern of the . automatic sprinklers will require an adjustment in , the location of automatic sprinkler heads. That is, full coverage is required. Ceiling-mounted automatic sprinklers should not be installed within 1 foot of nor more than 7-1/2 feet from .galls, partitions, ceiling baffles, etc. (ref: Sec. 10.308 U.F.C. ) 3. One set of approved plans bearing the st,....ps of the Washington County Building Department and this office must be maintained on the project site throughout all phases of construction and must be made available to building and fire in ,)ectors for reference during required constructio,. inspections. (ref: Sec. 303 U.B C. ) 4. Inspection and approval of construction by a represen- tative of this office is required: (a) prior to the concealment of any wood framing or combustible concealed spaces following the installation of the utility runs and firestopping prescribed in requirement no. 1 . (b) upon completion of construction and prior to the opening of this occupancy for business. (ref: Sec. 305 U.B.C. ) 5. Prior to opening this occupancy for business a Certificate of Occupancy or other written instrument of acceptance must be obtained from the Washington County Building Department. (ref: Sec. 307 L.B.C. ) The reference note which follows each listed requirement refers to applicable sections either in the Uniform Building Code or Uniform Fire Code, being the 1982 editions which are adopted regulations of this jurisdiction.
