The plans for the alteration of this mercantile occupancy at Washington
Square Shopping Center have been examined with reference to applicable
fire safety regulations. Listed as follows are requirements which must
be incorporated into the project and for which we found no provisions '
in the submitted drawings. ,, "''
1 . If wood framing is employed, firestopping is required
in all walls and partitions at ceiling lines. Penetrations
made in this prescribed firestopping to accommodate wiring,
plumbing, duct work and similar utility runs must be I
packed, following the installation of said utility runs, '
In a manner which will effectively maintain the integrity

and cut off all concealed draft oper:ings which could afford
• a passage for flame. '
2. Full automatic sprinkler protection is required. Accordingly, ,
the automatic sprinkler system must be altered and adjusted ,f:
to provide full coverage in all areas. Ceiling-mounted
automatic sprinkler heads must not be located closer than
1 foot nor more than 7-1/2 feet from any wall , partition or - *os
similar bulkhead.
3. All doors must be openable at all times from the inside for
immediate exit without the use of a key, special knowledge
or effort.

4. Inspection and approval of construction is required:
a) prior to the cover of any new framing elements
following the installation of the utility runs
and firestoppiiig mentioned in requirement no. 1 .
b) upon completion of construction.

5. One set of approved plans bearing the stamps of the Washington
• County Building Department and this office must be maintained
on the project site throughout all phases of construction and
must be made available to building and fire inspectors for •
reference during required construction inspections.
6. Upw. completion of construction a final inspection and Certifi-
cate of Occupancy or other written instrument of approval must
be obtained from the Washington County Builuing Department.
Subject to the foregoing stipulations, the plans are hereby approved. I
trust this letter will assist in clearing the way for the further development
oftheproject. Please let me know if I can be of service in any other way.
