Confirming cur telephone conversation of March 19, the plans for this
project have been examined with reference to currently applicable
fire safety regulations. As mentioned, the heavy-duty indusi.rial
square slide bolts proposed for installation on the rear exit door
as called for in note 10 on the drawings are prohibited. All doors
shown on these drawings must be openable from the inside at all times
for immediate exit without the use of a key, special knowledge or
effort. Edge bolts, flush bolts and similar restraining devices are
not acceptable.
Concerning the speci=ications relating to the installation and
alteration of the automatic sprinkler protection, prior to initiation
of any alteration work plans must be submitted to and approved by
a representative of this office. In any case, full coverage is required
and ceiling-mounted automatic sprinkler heads must not be located
closer than 1 foot nor more than 7-1/2 feet from any wall , partition
or simila - bulkhead.
One set of approved plans bearing the stamps of the Washington County
Building Department and this office must be maintained on the project
site throughout all phases of construction and must be made available
to building and fire inspectors for reference during required
construction inspections. Such inspections, by a representative of
this office, are required prior to the application of any finish
material to new wall and partition framing and again upon completion
of construction and prior to opening for business.
Also, prior to opening for business, a Certificate of Occupancy or
other written instrument of approval must be obtained from the
Washington County Building Department.

on the back of this sheet are the items we find to he in violation of. or for WFT-ji we find
no provisions for the requirements of the 1982 Edition of the State Uniform Building Code.

I ) Doors must be fitted with a type of locking or latching device
which will permit the opening of the door from the inside without
the use of a key, special knowledge or effort, except that exterior
exit doors may 5e fitted with a keyed locking device which is
readily distinguishable as locked and there is a readily visible,
durable sign on or adjacent to the door stating this door to remain
unlocked during business hours.
2) Manually operated edge or surface mounted flush bolts shall have no
door knob or surface mounted hardware. Section 3304(c), S.B.C.
3) Firestopping consisting of 2-inch (nominal ) lumber, gypsum
plasterboard or equivalent material is required to cut off all
concealed draft openings (both vertical and horizontal ) and shall
form an effective barrier between stories and between a top story
and roof space. :t sLall be used in specific locations as follows:
a) In all wood-framed walls and partitions at floor and ceiling
lines.
b) Along and in lines with the run of the stairway in aijacent
wood studwalls and partitions; also, at the top aid the bottom of
the sta i r.►ay.
c) At maximum horizontal intervals of 10 feet in the case of
double stud walls, partitions and furred spaces.
d) Penetrations made in th's prescribed firestopping to
accommodate wiring, plumbing, duct work and similar utility runs
mustbe packed, in a manner, which will effectively maintain the
integrity of the firestopping and cut otf all concea'ec' draft
openings which could afford a passage for flame. Reference
Section 2516, S.B.C.
4) Toilet rooms shall be provided with a mechanically operated exhaust
sys capable of providing a complete change of air every 15
minutes. Such systems shall be vented to the outside au' and at
the point of discharge shall be at least 5 feet from any openable
window. Reference Section 705, S.B.C.
5) A plumbing permit will be required prior to the installation or any
alteration of the sanitation or potable water systems. Plumbing
permits ere now available at the Building Division counter.

6) In lieu of submitting an engineers design, suspended ceilings and
fixtures shall be supported as specified in U.B.C. Standard 47•-18
And shall be laterally braced as shown on the attached cross
section. Additional inforriation of standard requirements is
available if needed upon request.
1) Plans for the installation or alteration of the automatic sprinkler
system must be provided to and approved by Washington Cuunty Fire
District #1 prior to such installation or alteration.
8) Subject to the above listed items the plans for this project are
approved for construction, insofar as the Land Development
Services Division requirements apply.
