The plans for the alteration of the space formerly occupied oy the
Scandanavian Shop to accommodate this new tenant have been examined
with reference to currently applicable fire safety regulations. As a
result we are listing as follows requirements which must be observed
during the course of construction and for which we found no provisions
in the submitted draNings or for which the provisions were not totally
clear to us.
1 . Full automatic sprinkler co.e, age is required. That
is, it appears that the fluorescent light valance
will obstruct the spray pattern of the automatic
sprilkler heads located in the main sales space.
Accordinc,ly, it will be necessary to provide a row
of sprinkler h?ads in each fluorescent light valance
trough.
2. In al'I wood framed walls and partitions and in all
wood framed furred walls firestopping must be provided
at the ceiling line. This firestopping may be composed
of 2-ir" nominal lumber, 1/2-inch gypsum plasterboard
or materials of a similar fire resistance.
Penetrations made in this prescribed firestopping to
accommodate wirirg, plumbing, duct work and similar
utility runs must he packed, ollowing the installation
of said utility runs, in a manner which will effectively
maintain the integrity Or the firestopping and cut off
all concealed draft openings which could afford a passage
for flame.

3. One set of approved plans bearing the stamps of the Wash-
ington County Building Department and this office must be
maintained on the project site throughout all phases of
construction and must be made available to building and
fire inspectors for reference during required construction
inspections
4. Inspection and approval of construction by a representative
of this office is required:
a) prior to the cover of any new framing elements
following the installation of all utility runs
and in the case of wood stud walls the fire-
stopping mentioned in requirement no. 2.
b) upon completion of construction and prior to
opening this tenent space for business.
5. Prior to opening this tenant space for business a Certificate
of Occupanc"" or other written instrument of approval must be
obtained frim the Washington County Building Department.
Subject to the foregoing stipulations the plans are hereby approved. I
trust this letter will assist in clearing the way for the further develop-
