Plans on the referenced project have been reviewed by this office and are
approved for construction subject to the following:
1) Doors must be fitted with a type of locking or latching device
which will permit the opening of the door from the inside without
the use of a key, special knowledge or effort, except that exterior
exit doors may be fitted with a keyed locking device which is
readily distinguishable as locked and there is a readily visible,
durable sign on or adjacent to the door stating this door tc remain
unlocked during business hours.
2) Plans for the installation or alterat'on of the automatic sprinkler
system must be provided to and approved by Washington :ounty Fire
District Al prior to such installation or alteration.
3) Exit signs are required at both rear doors. Words on the signs
shall be in block letters 6 inches in height and with a stroke not
less than 3/4 inch. Reference Section 3314(a)6(b), S.3.C.
Subject to the above listed items the plans for this project are
approved for construction, insofar as the Land Development Services Division
requirements apply.

This letter will confirm that we have reviewed the plans for the develop-
ment of this tenant space with you in the offices of the Washington County
Building Department on October 21 . The plans are approved subject to the
following conditions and stipulations.
1 . Full sprinkler coverage is required. Accordingly, the
automatic sprinkler system must be altered and extended
to provide full coverage for this entire tenant space.
Ceiling-mounted automatic sprinkler heads must not be
located closer than 1 foot nor more than 7-1/2 feet from
any wall , partition or similar bulkhead.
2. The means of exit to the exterior through toe rear of
the store must be indicated by exit signs having letters
not less than 6 inches in height with the principal
strokes being not less than 3/4 inch in width.
3. Ali doors shown on the drawings must be openable from
the inside at all times for immediate exit without the
use of a key, special knowledge or effort.
4. One set of approved plans bearing the stamps of the
Washington County Building Department and this office
must be mcintained on the project site throughout all
phases of construction and must be made available to
building and fire inspectors for reference curing re-
quired construction inspections.

5. Inspection and approval of construction by a representative
of this office is required:
a) prior to the cover of any rew framing elements
fcllowigg the installation of all utility runs
which will be concealed within wall and partition
cavities.
b) upon completion of construction and prior to open-
ing for business.
b. Prior to opening for business a Certificate of Occupancy or
other written instrument of approval must be obtained frcm
the .;ashington County Building Department.
Construction nay proceed on this occupancy without further delay. The
Stop Work Order- is hereby voided and will be removed from the premises upon
our next inspection. Accordingly, I hope this letter will assist in clear-
ing the way for the further development of your project. Please let me

The purpose of this letter is to advise you that we have reviewed
the plans for this occupancy and that we must deny approval . The
terms and regulations under which Washington Square was construc-
ted and is operated prescribe that each tenant space be provided
with a secondary exit . Such secondary exits cannot pass through
storerooms , stock rooms , and spaces used for similar purooses .
In the case of the drawings under discussion , the secondary exit
is shown as passing through a "receiving" room which is tanta-
mount to passing through a stock room . The secondary exit path
must be physically separated from the receiving area and revised
plans showing this arrangement must be submitted before we can
proceed .

The plans for the alteration of the automatic sprinkler protec-
tion to accommodate the remodeling of the mercantile occupancy at
this address have been examined . Since the preparation of your
drawings we have required some additional changes in the config-
uration of the floor plan of the occupancy. The affected area is
in the service space at the rear of the occupancy and Is shown on
the enclosed partial floor plan drawing . The automatic sprinkler
protection must accommodate this change .
That is , full sprinkler coverage is required and sprinkler heads
located in the ceiling must not be spaced closer than 4 inches
(preferably not closer than 12 inches) and not more than 7 1/2
feet from any wall , partition or similar bulkhead .
Subject to the foreguing comments , conditions and stipulations
your Qlans are hereby approved. We have retained one copy of the
