The plans for the alteration of the Wa.,hington Square Shopping Center
building to accommodate the above-noted tenant space have been e amined
with reference to currently applicable fire safety regulations. We are
listing as follows certain requirements which must be observed during
the course of construction in order to fulfill the requirements of these
regulations.
1 . If wood framing is employed, as contrasted with steel
framing, then firestopping must be provided in all
walls and partitions at floor and ceiling lines (this
includes firred walls) and at maximum horizontal in-
tervals of 10 feet, in the case of double stud walls.
Penetrations made in this prescribed firestopping to
accommodate wiring, plumbing, duct work and similar
utility runs must be packed, following the installation
of said utility runs, in a manner which will effectively
maintain the integrity of the firestopping and cut off
all concealed draft openings which could afford a pas-
sage for flame.
Please note that. under the provisions of the Section
cited herein, firestopping is not required in steel
framing.

2. The exit doors from this tenant space, both the front
and rear, must be openable from the inside at all times
for immediate exit without the use of a key, special
knowledge or effort. Further, the pair of doors which
serve the main entrance must be so arranged that when
one leaf if unlockea, the other is free to !.wing. That
is, the use of edge bolts, surface bolts or any other
device to secure or restrain the doors is prohibited.
(ref: Sec. 3302 U.B.C.)
3. Inspection and approval of construction by this office
is required:
a) prior to the cover of any wood framing following
the installation of the utility runs and fire-
stopping referred to Requirement No. 1 .
b) upon completion of construction and prior to the
occupancy of this tenant space; i .e. prior to
opening for business.

4. One set of approved plans bearing the stamps of the
Washington County Building Department and this office
must be maintained in the project space throughout all
phases of construction and must be made available to
building and fire inspectors,upon request., luring regular
construction inspections.

a Certificate of Occupancy or other written authoriLation
must he obtained from the Washington county Building
