nearest vertical edge of a door or in areas subject to human
impact, shall be tempered or of an app:•oved safety glazing
material . Reference Section 5406, S.B.C.
3. All insulation materials including facings, such as vapor barriers
or breather p.pers, installed within floor-ceiling assemblies,
roof- ceiling assemblies, walls, crawl spaces, or att'cs shall have
a flame-spread rating not to exceed 25 and a smoke density not to
exceed 450 when tested in accordance with U.B.:. Standard No. 42-1.
When such materials are installed in concealed spaces of Types III ,
IV, and V construction, the flame-spread and stroke-developed
limitations do not apply to facinos,providcd that the facing is
installed in substantial contact with the unexposed surface of the
floor-ceiling, or wall finish. Reference Sestina 1'13, S.B.C.
4. In lieu of submitting an engineers design, suspended ceilings and
fixtures shall be supported at, specified in U.E.,,. Standard 47-18
and shall be Literally braced as shown on the attached cross
section. Additional information of standard requirements is
available if need?J upon request.
5. Subject to the above listed items the plans for this project are
approved for construction, insofar as the Land Development
Services Division requirements apply.
6. The permit for t'iia project cannot be issued until the approvals
from the st.ru:tural engineer, design reviot, and the Unified Scwege
Agency, if required, has been documented. The fire marshal must
approve all plans prior to the issuance of the building permits.

The plans for this tenant space have been examined And as a result we are
listino herein those requirements which must be observed to meet c,_rrently
applicable fire saFety regulations and fur which we found no specific
provisions on the submitted drawings.
The exit doors must be openable from the inside at all times for immediate
exit without the t.se of a key, special knowledge or effort except that
exterior doors may be fitted with keyed deadlocks if they are of the
"indicating" type (that is, being readily distinguishable as being lucked
when in the locked position) and there is posted on or over the door, in
each instance where this option is exercised, a sign reading "THIS DOOR
MUST REMAIN UNLOCKED DURING BUSINESS HOURS" in letters not less than
1 inch in height on a contrasting background.
One set of approved plans bearing the stamps of the Washington County
Building Department and this office m,jst be maintained on the project
site throughout all phases of construction and must be made available
to building and fire inspectors for reference during required construc-
tion inspections.
Inspection and approval of construction b}' a representative of this

The pians for this tenant space have bean examined and we note that the drawings
cover only the construction of the demising walls and the front End rear door
assemblies. Prior to any interior development, complete plans therefor must he
submitted to and approved by a reprsrntative of this office.
As you are aware, full sprinkler coverage is required and the automatic sprinkler
system must be extended to protect all portions of this tenant space. Ceiling
mounted sprinkler heads should not be located closer than ore foot nor more than
7 1/2 feet fror any walls o. partition or other bulkhead which could obstruct
the spray pattern.
We have already covered the issue of landings on each side of exit doors, so there
should he no need to go over that point again.
Regarding the finish hardware for the main entrance/exit door assembly, when the
"active" leaf is unlocked, the "inactive" leaf must he free to swing. And the
unlatching of any leaf must not require more than one operation. Manually oper-
eted edge or surface mounted flush bolts and surface bolts are prohibited.
One set of approved plans hearing the stamps of the Washington County Building
Department and this office must be maintained on the project site throughout all
phases of construction and must he made available to building and fire inspectors
for reference during required construction inspections.
