non-structural, fire and life safety portion of the plans review on 10-25-3S . Listed
on the back of this sheet are the items we find to be in violation of. or for w ich we find
no provisions for the requirements of the 1982 Edition of the State Uniform Building Code.

1 ) Doors must be fltted with a type of locking or latching device which
will permit the opening of the door from the inside without the use of a
key, special knowledge or effort, except that exterior exit doors may be
fitted with a keyed locking device which is readily distinguishable as
locked and there is a readily visible, durable sign on or adjacent to
the door stating this door to remain unlocked during business hours.
2) Manually operated edge or surface-mounted flush bolts and service bolts
(8 security bars) are prohibited. When exit doors are used in pairs and
approved automatic flush bolts are used, the door leaf having the
automatic flush bolts shall have no door knob or surface mounted
hardware. The unlatching of any leaf shall not require more than one
operation. Reference Section 3304(c), S.B.C.
3) Glass used in doors or in Glazing located within 1? inches of the
nearest vertical edge of a door or in areas subject to human impact,
shall be tempered or of an approved safe'y glazing material . Reference
Section 5406, S.B.C.
4) Plans for the installation or alteration of the automatic sprinkler
system must be provided to and approved by Washington County FirP
District 01 prior to such installation or alteration.
5) Where the lower 7 feet of the existing demising wall is removed, please
sumbit 2 copies of a detail showing how the upper section to the roof
will be supported. Reference Section 302(b) , S.B.C.
6) Subject to the above listed items the plans for this project are
approved for corstruction, insofar as the Land Development Services
Division requirements apply.

The plans for this project have been examined with reference to fire safety
regulati,,ns. Please excuse this extended delay in providing verification.
I have been )n leave and was unable, due to press of time and our work load,
to render a report earlier.
In any event we are listing as follows requirements which must be observed
during the course of the development of this tenant space and for which we
found no specific: provisions within the submitted drawings.
1 . All doors must be openable from the inside at all times
for immediate exit without the use of a key, special
knowledge or effort; provided however, the exterior doors
may be fitted with keyed deadlocks if the deadlocks are
of the "indicating" type (that is. being readily dis-
tinguishable as being locked when in the locked position)
and in coojunction therewith a sign is posted on or over
the door reading "THIS DOOR MUST REMAIN UNLOCKED DURING
B.:SINESS HOURS" in letters not less than 1 inch in height
or a contrasting background.

following the installation of said utility runs, in a manner
which will effectively maintain the integrity of the fire-
stopping and cut off all concealed draft openings which could
afford a passage for flame.
3. Full automatic sprinkler coverage is required. This includes
concealed spaces exceeding 6 inches in height or width. Ceiling-
mounted automatic sprinkler heads must not be located closer
than 1 foot nor more than 7-1/2 feet from any wall , partition
or similar bulkhead.
4. Inspection and approval of construction by a representative
of this office is required prior to the application of any
cover to the framing eleients following the installation of
all utility runs end the firestopping mentioned in require-
ment no. 2. Also prior co occupancy of the building a
Certificate of Occupancy dr other written instrument of
approval must be obtained from the Washif.gton CJunty Building
Department.
5. One set of approved plans bearing the stamps of the Washng-
ton County Building Department and this offize must be
maintained on the project site throughout all phases of
construction and must be made available to building and fire
inspectors for reference during required construction inspec-
tions.
Subject to the foregoing comments, conditions and ,tipulations, the plans
for this project are hereby approved. I hope this letter will assist in
clearing the way for further development. If I can be of service in any
other tray, please let me know.
