Re: House of Fabrics (PC 4, 72)
Building B Spaces B-6 through B-8
10165 S. W. Washington Square Road
The plans for this tenant improvement project have been examined with
respect to the currently applicable regulations of this jurisdiction re-
lating to fire and life safety. As a result, we are listing as follows
those requirements which must be incorporated into the development, of
the p oject and for which we found no provisions on the submitted drawings
or for which the provisions were not clear to us at the time of review.
1 . Concerning the finish hardware for the storefront
entrance/exit door assemblies, which consist of pairs
of doors in each instance, when the "active" leaf is
unlocked the "inactive" leaf must be free to swing.
The use of edge bolts, surface bolts and similar re-
straining devices are prohibited.
All interior doors must be openable from the "inside"
for immediate exit without the use of a key, special
knowledge or effort.
2. Th.- automatic sprinkler protection must be modified and
extended to accommodate this tenant improvement program.
This includes providing automatic sprinkler protection
under the raised platform which serves as a floor for
the office. Blind spaces enclosed in whole or in part
by combustible construction require automatic sprinkler
coverage.

Referring to the reflected ceiling plan which shows
location of sprinklers, ceiling-mounted automatic
sprinkler heads must not be spaced closer than 1 foot
nor more than 7-1/2 feet from any wall , partition or
similar bulkhead. Reference in this instance is made
to the tenant space south and east of this project area.
3. Subje,.t to the foregoing comments the plans under dis-
cus• ion are hereby approved. One set of approved plans
bearing the stamps of the Washington County Building
Department and this office must be muintain3d on the
project site throughout all phases of construction and
must he made available to building and fire inspectors
for reference during required construction inspections.
4. Inspection and approval of construction by a represen-
tative of this office is required:
a) prior to the cover of any new framing elements
following the installation of all utility runs
which will be concealed in wall and partition
cavities.
b) upon completion of construction and prior to
opening this tenant space for business.
5. Prior to the opening of this t2rant space for business a
Certificate of Occupancy or other written instrument of
approval must be obtained from the Washing'on County
Building Department.
I trust this letter will assist in clearing the way for the project's
further dg velopment. If I can be of service in any other way, please let
me know./
