SUBJECT: Parking Requirements for City Hall, New Skatepark, and New Library
City Hall (including the Niche) is required to provide a total of 101 parking stalls (this number will
remain the same in 2005). A 15,000 square foot skatepark at the Niche would require 30 parking
stalls (2 spaces per 1,000 square feet of"skateable area").
Currently, there are 242 parking stalls at City Hall (218 at City Hall proper and 24 at the Niche).
The total required for City Hall and a skatepark would be 131. This leaves us with 111 extra
parking stalls.
The new Library will be required to provide 118 parking stalls. There has been some discussion
about shared parking between the new Library and City Hall. If the stalls at the new Library are
half standard size and half compact, there will be less need for shared parking. As the above
numbers indicate, sufficient parking exists to accommodate a 15,000 square foot skatepark at the
Niche and shared parking for the new Library.
