Call. to Order The regular meeting of the Tigard Library Board was
& Roll Call called to order on May 14, 1979 by Chairman Betsy
Chick at 7:30 P.M.
Excused: JeriCundiff, George Vaternick.
Reports The minutes of the previous meeting was approved.
The members had received copies of the monthly report
for April. There was no discussion.
Old Business:
Meeting Times Yvonne Burgess moved that the regular meeting of the
Motion Board be scheduled on the second Monday of each month.
Dick Bendixsen seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
Serial LevyContract Board discussed points in the 1979-80 serial levy contract
in anticipation of Yvonne Burgess and Jim Sidey's re-
presentation of Tigard's views at a county meeting
scheduled May 16. The Board reaffirmed their support of
the contract, contending that there should be room for
negotiation on points which might be troublesome for the
smaller libraries, but maintaining the clauses which
outline library responsibilities.
SB 31 Librarian reported that the Library Aid Bill, SB 31 ,
had passed the Senate Education committee and that it
will be taken up in Ways and Means next. Ways and
eans will determine the question of funding and how
much.
Budget Committee Librarian reported that Library budget for 1979-80
was left intact as presented to the City Budget Committee
on April 19.
Comp.,iter Up-date Librarian reported that the specifications are in the
final stages for the computer circulation system
being planned for the Washington County Cooperative
Library Services (WCC}-.5) .libraries. Washington County
will act as the agent in bidding and purchasing trans-
actions.
Friends of Library The Chairman reported that the Friends of the Library
bazaar, April 28, had been successful with the Friends
collecting $320 from the book sale, table rental and sale
of donated items.
New Business:
Book Complaint Librarian presented a book complaint submitted by a
patron. Board decided that patron should be notified
by mail that there was insufficient information on the
the form and to ask that a more complete form be re-
turned.
Book Sale Friends of the Library will have a book sale at the
Library each third Saturday of the month. If successful,
this will replace the annual book sale.
