03/12/1974 - Minutes The library board meeting of March 12, 197 4., was called to
order by Librarian Ann Hicks in Chairman Jerri Cundiff's absence.
Present were Ann dicks, Yvonne Burgess, Ken Carlisle, and
Mary Slemons.
Under old business the topic of the new children's room
was discussed. Ann related to the board that the City Council
has agreed to pay the rent on the library for two more years,
that the building's owner will finish the construction of the
new room, and that the Lion's Club will be assisting with grant
finances. Larch 14 is the date of a decision on the grant--
whether approval or denial.
Ann also mentioned that CRAG has to approve a letter of
Intent concerning the application for a state grant to open
a children's roost.
On the topic of correspondence, Ann has received a letter
from the book case manufacturer relating the fact that there
has been a drop in prices in metal book cases. This situation
may make the acquisition of an additional book case possible.
Under new business, Ann told the board that the Washington
County high school, college, and special libraries have agreed
to make a list of all their periodicals for the purpose of inter-
library loans. Fature meetings of the group will study a complete
county inter-3JAW"y loan system such as Clackamas County Vis.
Transportation of loaned periodicals will most likely be made
by IED vehicles to and from the schools nearest the libraries
involved.
Ann announced that she will be asking for a larger budget
for next year for books and stationery supplies.
Site also said that the matter of the new exterior sign for
the library has not progressed too far as yet.
The next .meeting will be April 9, 197 ., in the morning.
