04/08/1975 - Minutes LIBRARY BOARD MEETING FOR APRIL 891975 AT 8:OOpM
The president opened the meeting. Those present were Jeri
Cundiff, Yvonne Burgess, Ken Carlisle, Mary Slemons. Also
Mayor Bishop and Councilman Cook. The minutes were read
and approved.
Under Old Business the Federal Grant was discussed. It
seems that after granting the $70,000 to establish a "Books
By Mail", provide cassettes and recorders and help to the
individual libraries, projectors and an agreement between
the IED and the libraries for use of their films, the State
Library decided there was not enough money. Members of the
Washington County Network and Mrs Dalton were going to the
OLA Convention to a special meeting to protest. The Tigard
Librarian will go to represent this side of the county.
Under New Business Jeri reminded people to support the
Friends of the Library and their wine tasting party. The
wines are from the Oak Knoll Winery of Oregon. To publicize
the party two Generals Ret. will have their pictures taken
in the library with the last gift of the FofL- the WWII
Encyclopedia.
The books in Spanish have been put on a shelf by themselves
and are now ready for checkout.
The misdeamor program is escalating. We are having them
file, straighten books, paint, and code books. They are
working out well.
The meeting was adjourned.
Respectively submitted,
Anne Hicks- Secretary
