11/09/1976 - Minutes TIGARD LIBRARY BOARD MEETING 11/0/76
The meeting was called to order by the Chaiieman, Yvonne Burgess.
Those present were Jeri Cundiff, Ken Carlisle, Ivonne and Anne.
Under OLD BUSINESS;
the lectures are going well. Over 50 people at the mushroom
identification;
The story hour is a sucess with between 20-25 kids;
CETA has been renewed until 3/31/77 by Congress but the money has
not yet been appropriated though anticipation is high.
Friends of the Library is going into limbo this year except for the
annual book sale in August.
Under NEW BUSINESS;
maybe: a new library within a city complex at the site of the old
sewer plant. 7000 sq ft using federal funds. Know by Jan.
Pat is pregnant so she will be going on part time. Will hire a
part time 23 year old to help- Kathy and her friend Susan also.
Jane Putnam decided to stay with Clackamas Co to help get that
activiated again. She can come in Sat. to help catalog.
Tualatin is starting a new library using the Book Van from the Co.
The tax base for the city did not pass so next year will be a< bummer.
Everyone will wan): raises so probably go on special levy above
the six per cent- tough struggle.
The pornography ruling has been changed through Oregon legislature
so librarian not now liable for suing.
We are not going to ask for a grant from the state because they have
plans for the funds- including a film library for loan.
Anne will ask the Lions' Clubs to add large print books to their
budgets.
