Tigard High Construction Update 2018 Tigard High School Construction Update Fall 2018 Welcome back to the 2018-19 School Year! We are eager to have students back in the building, which is in the midst of a significant facelift! As a reminder, this work will modernize some of the oldest parts of our school to include: • New 2-story classroom wing and main office relocation paralleling Durham Rd. • Expansion and modernization of Career Technology Education (CTE) and art classroom wing • Expansion of the Commons to provide a single lunchroom area for all students • Improvements to both the mens' &womens' PE/ athletic facilities including renovation of the locker and team rooms and new auxiliary gym, weight, wrestling and fitness rooms • Seismic upgrades to the old cafeteria (which will be re-purposed for other educational uses) and the auditorium • Relocation of tennis court facilities (to accommodate new construction) As we get ready for students to return, we want to communicate some important updates: • For the 2018-19 school year, seniors will be given the first opportunity to purchase parking passes. If there are passes remaining after seniors purchase theirs, juniors can sign up for a "parking lottery" in the Student Services Office. The deadline for juniors to sign up for the parking lottery is September 14. • A parking pass costs $50 and must be used only on cars registered to students or their parents. (Parking fees pay for cleaning and improving the parking areas and help to fund security.) Wheel boots may be used when students violate parking rules and regulations. To have the boots removed, the student must pay a $30 fee to Student Services. Further violation will result in towing of vehicle. • Student parking that was located on the northwest corner of campus has been relocated to a temporary parking lot east of the swim center. A valid Tigard High Parking Pass will be required to park in this lot and along 92nd avenue. Please note that for safety reasons, vehicles leaving the temporary lot will be allowed to turn right only onto Durham Rd. We predict that exiting the parking lot in the afternoons will take an extended period of time. For that reason, we encourage students to carpool, plan ahead for delays, or ride the bus. • Our expectation is that students demonstrate good parking lot etiquette: driving slowly, yielding to pedestrians, not leaving trash in the lot, obeying traffic signage, and exercising patience when leaving the lot in the afternoon. • The main entrance for students riding the bus or parking in the temporary parking lot will be between the main building and the Auditorium/Cafeteria, indicated on the map below with a yellow dot. • The other area available for student parking will be on 92nd Avenue, on the west side of Tigard's Campus where over 100 head-in parking spots are available. It is important to note that parking in the neighborhoods west of 92nd Avenue require a "resident only permit." A City of Tigard ordinance forbids students from parking in those neighborhoods. Any students that park in this area will be subject to being towed. SW DURHAM ROAD RIGHT TURN -.. _-.
