Letter to Council Members 2-28-1990 . i ,. February 28, 1990 ? 5- ; r 1,--t nv w----- -,«-- U" 1 Tigard City Council 13125 S.W. Hall Blvd. Tigard, OR 97223 Dear Council Members, The residents of Avon Street have long considered the quality of life in the City of Tigard to be outstanding. We appreciate your dedication to our city and your desire to keep the city safe for all its' residents. We also appreciate our excellent public schools and the dedicated people who make it all happen. With this in mind, the residents of Avon Street would like to address a traffic problem that has plagued our street over the past several years. Due to the fact that our street runs parallel to Durham Road we have a problem with High School students using our street as a short cut to Hall Blvd. Not only has this increased the traffic on our street, but the students often do not respect the 25mph speed limit and have driven in excess of 40mph. The residents of Avon Street are very concerned since our neighborhood has sixteen children between the ages of 1 month and 8 years. Our concern was heightened after a near accident with one our toddlers and a speeding car. We have recently contacted Mr. Patrick Reilly the City Administrator about our problem and would like to thank him for his efforts to date. We would also like to thank Police Chief Ron Goodpaster for his quick response to our concerns. However, we want to emphasize that the actions taken to date are considered short term solutions. We would like the City of Tigard to work with the the neighborhood in developing a plan that will insure a solution to this serious problem. We appreciate and thank the City Council for it's time and effort in addressing this issue. Sincerely, v PE A- , Th Residents of Avon treet 9.. 6 February 28, 1990 Tigard City Council 13125 S.W.
