TIGARD DIFFERENCE MAKERS
Highlighting city volunteers strengthening the community
Stephanie Veal
htt
Member,Audit Committee&Budget Committee
"I don't feel like I have a right to complain unless I make a concerted effort to
change what I see. I love a city where we are working together for the common
goal of a safe, clean, robust city. I would love to see more and more people
coming out and getting involved," remarks Stephanie on why she volunteers.
Her Favorite Spots in Tigard:Cook Park because I love running and biking on
the trails. I also love Tigard High's football stadium. With kids in sports that is
where I spend a majority of my time!
New Year's Resolutions?Consume less and garden more.Spend more time
outside on my feet than inside on the couch.
Most memorable volunteer experience:Two years ago when I was listening to
applications for social service grants. It was eight hours of citizens with passion
about helping the less fortunate. It was a long day, but I left with renewed hope
for a better community.

Councilor Liz Newton
My most memorable experience 0 :
PeopleWalking around Tigard neighborhoods as a candidate for city council. I got in a
lot of steps walking familiar neighborhoods and discovering new ones too. I
enjoyed the conversations I had with residents, learning what is important to
. gracious with their time. Some even followed up with
phone calls and emails. I learned a lot and saw a lot of Tigard I hadn't visited
My 2019 New Year's resolution is...
