Outlet connection is slip and drive. Agency Listing-The unit is UL and Canadian UL listed as a room air terminal unit. UL Control#9N65. All Trane terminal units are AHRI 880-98 certified. General Unit Clearance Allow adequate clearance on control box side of unit to meet NEC. A minimum of one and one half duct diameters of straight duct work, upstream of the air inlet connection, must be present for optimum airflow measurement performance. Upstream duct work should be the same diameter as the primary inlet connection. Allow access to the bottom of unit if Optional Bottom Access Door is selected. 1/2" Matte-Faced Insulation The interior surface of the unit casing is acoustically and thermally lined with 1/2" 1.50 lb.cu. ft. [24.00 kg./cu. m.] composite density glass fiber with 4.0 lb. cu.ft. [64 kg./cu. m.] high density facing. The insuiation is UL listed and meets NFPA-90A and UL 181 standards. The insulation R-value is 1.9. All cut edges of insulation are completely encapsulated in metal to prevent erosion. Air Valve Size-06 Air Valve is 500.0 cfm 6"inlet. Air Valve Size-08 Air Valve is 900.0 cfm 8" inlet. Air Valve Size- 10 Air Valve is 1400.0 cfm 10" inlet. Air Valve Size- 12 Air Valve is 2000.0 cfm 12"inlet. Air Valve Round The air inlet connection is an 18 gauge galvanized steel cylinder sized to fit standard round duct. A multiple point, averaging flow sensing ring is provided with balancing taps for measuring within +1-5% of unit cataloged airflow. An airflow versus pressure differential calibration chart is provided. The damper blade is constructed of a closed cell foam seal mechanically locked between two 22 gauge galvanized steel disks. The damper blade assembly is connected through a cast zinc stub axle and shaft supported by self lubricating bearings. The shaft is cast with a damper position indicator. The valve assembly includes a mechanical stop to prevent over stroking. At 4.0"w.g. air valve leakage does not exceed 1% of cataloged airflow. Slip& Drive Connection A slip and drive connection has two straight flanges on the top and bottom, and two drive connections on the left and right sides. This is a standard option on all VAV single duct terminal units. D.D.C. Floating Point Actuator Trane 3 wire, (open, close, common)26GA when 6-pos amp connector is used for Tracer UC210,W550, or VAV UCM, otherwise 18GA wires are used. 3.4 VA, 1.7W, 24 VAC, 50/60 Hz. Quarter turn control actuator with linkage release button. Actuator has a constant drive rate independent of load, a rated torque of 35 in-Ib, a 90-second drive time and is non-spring return. Travel is terminated by end stops at fully opened and closed positions. An integral magnetic clutch eliminates motor stall. An integral 3 screw terminal block is provided for field wiring. Operating temperature 32.0 F to 125.0 F. DDC Controls Option DD01, DD11, DD41 & DD71 Basic Operation: Cooling Only Control (No Remote Heat) (DDC/UCM) A voltage signal from the zone sensor indicates the zone temperature is used by the unit controller to determine an error from the set point. This error, as well as primary flow differential pressure, is used to determine damper position within minimum and maximum cooling airflow set points. As the zone temperature drops to the heating set point, primary airflow is controlled to minimum heating flow set point. The sensor senses zone temperature and other setpoint functions, such as the manually selected timed override(TOV) Occupied (On)signal,TOV Unoccupied(Cancel)signal, and thumbwheel setting.A controller in the HVAC system uses the data to control the zone to a selected temperature. Enclosure The enclosure consists of three components: back plate, cover, and security screw. The back plate contains a circuit board and an optional COMM module, if installed. It also provides a wire cutout and mounting hole openings. The cover protects the circuit board and the optional COMM module. It provides openings for ventilation, switches, and indicators. A security screw is located at the bottom of the enclosure and anchors the cover to the back plate to help prevent tampering. Circuit board The circuit board snaps securely to the enclosure back plate. Depending on the model, it provides pushbutton switches, potentiometers controlled from the outside of the zone temperature sensor enclosure. Switches and a thumbwheel select features and functions of the sensor. Some zone sensor models have no switches. Optional COMM module The optional COMM module snaps securely to the enclosure back plate. It must be ordered separately and installed by the customer. If a COMM module is requested for a zone temperature sensor, the module ships enclosed in a separate package and is later installed as part of the sensor installation process. The COMM module consists of a small circuit board populated with an RJ22 jack and a termination block. The termination block provides connections between the RJ22 jack and the unit control module. The jack is the connection point for the PC Service Tool cable. Timed override (TOV)On and Cancel pushbutton switches The timed override(TOV)On and Cancel pushbuttons enable temporary control of the heating and cooling for the zone monitored by the zone temperature sensor on systems which support this capability. Thumbwheel When the circuit board is assembled in the enclosure, the thumbwheel is accessible at the top, front, center of the sensor cover. Rotating the thumbwheel selects the temperature setpoint from the zone. The thumbwheel is available in three configurations: Fahrenheit, Celsius, and Warmer/Cooler. The sensor ships with the Fahrenheit thumbwheel installed and the Celsius thumbwheel included in the box. The Warmer/Cooler thumbwheel is available as an optional accessory that must be ordered and purchased as a separate item. Both the Celsius and the Warmer/Cooler thumbwheels are installed on site. Together, these descriptions will enable you to choose the most effective sensor placement to ensure accurate readings and increase the longevity of the sensor. When selecting a location for the zone temperature sensor, rule out those with undesirable characteristics such as: Locations in the direct airstream of air diffusers Locations where exterior or other walls show a temperature difference between the two sides Locations close to sources of heat such as direct sunlight(on or near the sensor), appliances, equipment, concealed pipes, and chimneys Locations that are drafty Locations that are dead spots: behind doors, behind projection screens, and in corners Locations with walls that are subject to high vibration Locations with high humidity Locations that are high traffic areas: to reduce the chance of accidental damage or tampering Locations to look for Height requirements for mounting the zone sensors are: Maximum height of 54 in. off the floor(measured from the bottom of the enclosure)for most installations Maximum height of 48 in. off the floor(measured from the bottom of the enclosure)when only a parallel approach, for example by a person in a wheelchair, is possible. Note: Consult section 4.27.3 of the 2002 Americans with Disability Act(ADA) guideline and local building codes for further details concerning wheelchair requirements.
