GDI Project: Polygon-129-03 Prepared By: Zane Rogers
Project Name: River Terrace East Date: 7/18/18
Location: SW Scholls Ferry&Roy Rogers,Bvrtn. Report#: 255
Arrival: 930 Departure: 1030
Weather: Sunny, 70s Permit#: TBD
Site Visit Requested By: Spencer(NEI) Met With (on site): Spencer(Cell Phone),
Ken Wilde (Polygon) Ken (Cell Phone)
Purpose: Lot 124 subgrade, Retaining Wall, Evaluate Structural Fill
Outstanding Issues: Proof roll road and curb base rock and repair as needed before paving
FR-58 (12/06) - Decommission temporary storm and sewer lines through Tract E
FR252B(7/10) -Vertical cut at base of retaining walls on lots 119 and 126
Lot 124 Subgrade
Upon arrival, I observed lot 124 had been prepared to final subgrade elevation. Subgrade appeared to consist of
brown silt. I used a1/2"diameter steel foundation probe to evaluate the consistency of the subgrade. Resistance to
penetration indicates generally very stiff subgrade conditions.
Retaining Wall Lots 119 and 126
I observed the base of undermined lock and load wall adjacent to lots 119 and 126 had not been backfilled. We
recommend that contractor place and compact a wedge of crushed rock with a minimum slope of 1 .5:1 (H:V)to
cover at least the lower 6inches of the lowest wall unit for temporary support.
Pond Fill
While onsite I was asked to observe structural fill being placed within a previously used detention pond. I was
informed fill within the area observed was at final grade. I used a Troxler 3430 nuclear density gauge to evaluate
compaction in the area.Tests were compared to a lab produced optimum dry density of 112.1 at 16% moisture.
Tests performed in this area met recommended compaction efforts of 92%of optimum
Based on observations and testing, it is our opinion that structural fill, as well as Lot 124 subgrade observed today
and where indicated on the attached site plan is being prepared in general accordance with our geotechnical
recommendations
