Purpose j Evaluate Lot Subgrades for Lots 106, 125, and 126
Outstanding Issues: Proof roll road and curb base rock and repair as needed before paving
FR 58 (12/06) Decommission temporary storm and sewer lines through Tract E
12S and 126 Lot Subgrades FR 252 B (7/10/18)vertical cut at base of retaining walls on lots 119 and 126
Upon arrival, crews were beginning to place concrete forms on lot 125. Both lots 125 and 126 had been cut to bare
soil. Subgrade soil generally appeared to consist of brown silt with some silty fill to the north in the upper tiered
sections. I observed some cobbles in a portion of subgrade in lot 126. I used a'/2 inch diameter steel "T" probe to
evaluate relative consistency of the subgrades. Lot subgrades were generally observed to be stiff to very stiff based
on resistance to penetration of the probe.
Based on observations and probing, it is our opinion that the subgrades for lots 125 and 126 have been prepared in
general accordance with our geotechnical recommendations.
I observed that Lock+ Load walls on the west sides of lots 119 and 126 and adjacent to SW Redfox Terrace
appeared to have been undermined when the lot subgrades were excavated (see attached photos). We recommend
that contractor place and compact a wedge of crushed rock with a minimum slope of 1 '/2 to 1 (Horizontal to
Vertical) against the lower 6 inches of the lowest wall unit for temporary support.
Lot 106 to cover at least
I was informed crews had dug out soft areas in the upper portion of lot 106 and replaced with crushed rock. I
observed that crews had placed 2 to 6 inches of crushed rock in this area, which appeared to have been keyed in.
The 1 %2 inch minus crushed rock generally probed medium dense to dense and the underlying soil appeared
medium stiff to stiff.
Based on observations and probing, it is our opinion that the subgrade and replacement rock section in the topmost
tier of lot 106 had been prepared in general accordance with our geotechnical recommendations.
