A fire and life safety plan review was con�'.ucted on the above captioned
project for compliance with the 1985 editions of the Uniform Building Cade
(UBC), Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC), and the Uniform Fire Code (UFC) , as
amended by Washington County Fire District No. 1's Ordinance 86-1 .

1. Automatic Sprinkler Protection Recommendation: This office would

I am Enclosing the detail for the block masonry wall we intend
LU construct in lieu cc the tilt-up concretP wall that. was shown
on the drawings. The detail sheet .includes the block wall,
footing detail and the masonry .reinforcing.
We will be using engineered trusses both at the building and in
the canopy. The building truss supplier will be Trus-Joist.
The canopy truss supplier has not been selected yet. Engineered
design and calculations for both type of trusses will be
submitted for your approval prior to installation.

Per my conversation With Dan, on today's date, a 720 pound
mechanical unit over 2 type "AN or "At" TJH trusses ( 70' span)
presents no problem. Each truss in designed to carry a mechanical
load of 840 pounds. A 55A pound mechanical uni+ over -2 type B
TVIVUS Joist ( 33' ) is not a problem since Tach joist is designed
for a mechanicel load of 396 pounds.

Submitted automatic sprinkler plans for the above captin"pd property
are approved subject to the following conditions:
1. Fire Department Connection Piring: Fire Department
connection piping is not shown on these plans. As Fire
Department connections run underground and stub up through
the slabs, piping should be shown tied into the main riser of
each of the two systems.
2. Underground: Underground shown on the submitted plans is not
as underground was installed. You may want to revise and
look at hydr• ulics from the standpoint of possible over-
design in the two buildings.
3, friction Loss: Submit documentation of friction loss for
backflow preventors.
4. Hydrostatic Tests: Systems shall be hydrostatically tested
in accordance with pamphlet 013. Call this department for
witness of hydrostatic tests and inspection of installation.
Please given 24 hours notice prior to anticipated teat time.

5. Test Certificate: After completions of tests, complete

1-25-88: ABCO using torches to dry off west end of Building "A" roof. Taper
and cants were hot mopped in. 2-ply system of Owens-Corning Permaply IV was
applied. Temperature of hot in mop bucket was 480F. Air temperature was 42F.
2-ply system was complete this date and Derbi--gum was applied to cants at
parapet walls. Building "A" and "B" still have areas with dry lap and
"fishmouths" which have to be repaired prior to application of cap sheet this
spring.
1-26-88: ABCO f4nished placing Derbi-gum on cants on Building "A". CTI
inspector found one "Fishmouth" on Building "A" which, when stepped on, had
water push out. CTI inspector notified Westwood superintendent that this
should be repaired as soon as possible because of potential leakage.

A fire and life safety plan review was conducted on the above-
captiunAd project for crimpliance with the 1985 editions of the Uniform
Building Code (UBC), Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC), ami the Unifcrtin
Fire Code (IJFC) as amended by Washington County Fire District's
Ordinance 86-1.
1. Specifications: Divi3lon )5 Mechanical. and 16 Electrical. are
not Included in this specifications book. It is the assLmnption of
this plans examiner that these specifications will be submitted as
a builder's design package. As these details are developed,
please submit to this office for review and approval.

2. Fire Protection of Underground Lines: Automatic sprinkler
system underground shall he installed and tested in accordance
with NatLonal Fire Protoction Association Standard 2.4. Submit
copies of contractor's materials and test certificate to this of-
fice after completion of teots. Please cal.l for witness
of installation, hydrostatti testing, and flushing of under-
grcunds. Appointment sho-1V be made 24 hours In advance.
3. Future Developnent: As sprces shown in these shell buildings
are developed f'or tenants, second exits will be required from
retail areata ,,hen occupant 1�-id for the shop plun any offices and
storage areas reaches 30 or more. Separation of the second exit
will be '112 the diagonal distance from the area served. if tra
separation for the second exit will ,only allow it to be placed out
the back of the building, a corridor will be required if passing
through stroage area. Since the occupant load of said second exit
corridor is 30 or more, the corridor will be constructed a:3 re-
quired in Uniform Building Code 3305(8) and (h).
4. Exit Door Hardware: All d x)rs shown on tae drawings must be
openable from the inside for immediate exit at all times without
the use of a key, special knowledge or effort.

5. Exterior Exit Hardware Por the exterior doors and key-
operated deadl.o^ks may be permitted where there is a sign posted
on or over the door reading, "THIS DOOR MUST R114AIN UNLOCKED
DURING BUSINESS HOURS" in letters not less than one inch in height
on a contrasting background.

NOTE: These requirements will apply to front dc:,rs and rear exit
doors.
6. Doubie Door Hardware: Where exit doors are used in pairs,
approved automati : flush bolts shall be used nn the secondary
leaf'. The door having the automatic flush bolts must have no
door knob or surface-mounted hardware. The unlatching of any
leaf must not require more than one operation.

NOTE: This paragraph will apply to double doors used or serving
as exits.
7. Firest_oppinp In all wood-framed wall and partitions, f'ire-
stopping consisting of 2-inch nominallv-sized lumber or other
approved materials must be installed at all floor and ceiling
levels. Penetrations in this prescribed firestopping to accom-
modate wiring, plumbing and other similar utility runs must be
packed with noncombustible materials in a approved manner so ao
to prevent the passage of flame.

8. Insulation F.iameSpre,-A: The insulation, including breather
papers and vapor barriers which are not in contact with the
upper .surface of the ceiling and under surface of the floor, as
the case may be, must rave a flame spread rating of not to ex-
ceed 25 and a smoke developmen'; classification of not greater
than 450 as measured on the Steiner Tunnel Test scale referred
to as UBC Standard No. 42-1.

construction or occupancy of this project must be approved by
Underw~iters Laboratories, Irc. or other nationally recognized
testing agency and installed in accordance with the testing
agency's specifications.

11. Fire Extinguisher Requirements: Not Jess than one ( 1 ) approved
fire extinguishers :with rating of nr,t less than 2A10B:C shall
be provided for each 1,500 square .feet of floor area or fraction
thereof. The travel distance to an extinguisher from any portiun
of the building shall not exceed 75 feet.

NOTE: As these two buildings are only in the shall development
stage and will be accessible to passers-by, installation of fire
extinguishers is not needed at this time. But, they will be re-
quircd as individual tenant spaces are developed.
12. Automatic Sprinkler Plans: Plans referred to and examined
by this office contain no provisions for the alteration or
Installation of automatic sprinkler System. Not less than
three sets of plans for the installation .ahall be submitted to
this office for approval prior Lo installation.
13. Approved Plans on ,Job Site: One set of approved plans bearing
the stamps of the Tigard Bailding Department and this office mrr--;i'
be maintained un the pooject site throughout all phases of con-
stroction and must be made available to building and fire inspec-
tor,! for reference during required construction inspE-,tions.

111. Inspections Required: Inspection and apprc4al of construction
by a representative of this office is required: (a) prior to the
cover of any new framing elements following the installation of
all utility run.i which will be concealed within wall and partition

Exterior Gypsum Board Sheathing: Manufacturer's special water resistant gypsum
board Cir exterior use, rounded or beveled edges. Treated core, watar-
ebsorption limited to 10%. ASTM C 473, MOTE: Plywood sheathing shown is •
at,-uc(urol requirement ani not subject to substitution with gypsum board
sheathing.

Dryvit Primus/Adhesive as manufactured by Dryvit System, Inc., Portland
Cement - ASTM C-150, Type 1.
Dryvit Insulation Board expanded polystryrene, less than 25 flame spread,
1,0 lbs./cu. ft. ever-age density; K-0.23 per inch; General Specification
HH-1.5240, Type 1, Close A. Thickness 2" minimum unless noted otherwise. In
addition; all Insulation board shall be aged (air dried) for six weeks before use.
The following dimensional tolerances shell apply for Insulation board in lieu of
Federal Specification HH-1-u!B. Edges shall be square within 1/32 Inch per
foot. Thickness shell be within a tolerance of plus or minus 1/16 inch. At
manufactured by Dryvit system approved manufacturer.
Dryvit finish as manufactured by D"yvlt Systems, Inc. shall be a factory mixed
coating with integral color. The finish shall be Ouartputz with Integral texture.
Reinforcing Fabric as manufactured by Dryvit System, Inc. Primus/Adheslve and
Quariputt shall be stored at temperature ro4 lose than 401 F.
Sheetmetal work shall be the gauge as noted on the drawings and shall be galvan-
lted, except the perforated vant strip which may be anodized or mill finish alumi-
num.
PART 3 • EXECUTION:
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Preparation of Wall Surface (by others): All materials In this section are to be
Installed by aP proved applicators. The surface shall have no planar irregulsr'tias
greater than i Inch. The surface to bee e covered shall be sound, from of hot
spots, releasing agents (silicones, oils, etc.) and other residue.
Installation shell be In strict accordance with manufacturers specification as

Mixing Primus/Adhesive: Usp clean container, free of all foreign substance, for
mixing and preparing material. Mix Type 1 Portland Cament with Primus/Adhe-
alve in a ratio, by volume, of one ps-t fresh Portland eenwnt to one part
Primus/Adheslve. This mixed Primus/Adh( Live shell be used for insulation board
adhesive and Primus coating, Pot life for mixed Primus/Adhesive is the some as
ordinary varier or plaster materials. Keep container closed when not in use.
Applying Insulation Board: The application of Insulation board to vertical
surfaces shall begin at the base from firm, permanent or temporary support.
Adhesion shall be made to a clean hard surface as de:crlbod under "Preparation
crf Wall Surface". Precut Insulation 'board as required to fit openings,
projections, etc. Stagger vertical Joints. By trowel, apply a ribbon M mixed
Primus/Adhesive approximately 2 inches wide by tic Incl, to 3/8 ir,oh thick to the
entire perimeter of each board. Apply dabs or ribbons of the some thickness to
the Interior area approximately 8 inches on center. Apply pressure over entire
surface of board to Insure uniform contact and high Initial Wrob. Abut all Joints
tightiy and insure an overall flush level surface. All areas where the coating
manufac•urer's Instructions for the particular substrate eondltlons.
Clean surfaces to be coated 'before applying coatings or surface treatments:
