This is a Fixe and Life Safety Plan Review and is based on the 1985 editions
of the Fire and Life Safety Code (UBC) , Mechat,i.cal Fire and Life Safety Code
(UMC) , Uniform Fire Code (UFC) , and other local ordinances and regulations.
ReviEed plans submitted to this office for review and approval of the above
captioned project are conditionally approved subject to the fci?owing items:
1. Doors Opening into the Elevator Lobby/Corridor: Doors opening
into the elevator lobby/corridor shall be of not less than twenty
minute fire resistive assemblies (door, frame and hardware) .
Doors shaJ.1 either b,, automatic or self-closing. Doors shall also
be fitted with smoke gaskets. UBC Sec. 3305(h)
2. Fire Extinguisher. Requirements: Not less than one (1) approved
fire extinguisher s) with rating of not less than 2A10B:C shall be
provided for each 1,500 square feet of floor area or fraction
thereof. The travel distance to an extinguisher from any portion
of the building shall not exceed 75 feet. UFC Standard 10-1
3. Automatic Sprinkler Plans: Plans referred to and examined by this
office contain no provisions for the alteration or installation of
automatic sprinkler system, Not. less than three sets of plans f..r
the installation shall be submitted to this office for approval

4. Mechanical Plans Required: Plans referred to and examined by this
office contailed no plans for heating or air conditioning systems.
Unless electric baseboard heat is employed, complete mec;ianical �
system plans for the HVAC equipment and duct work must be
submitted to and approved by Lhis office prior to installation.

5. Exit Door Hardware: All doors shown on the drawings must be
openable from the inside for immediate exit at all times without
the use of a key, special knowledge, or effort. UBC Sec, 3304
6. Exterior Exit Door: Hardware for the exterior doors and key
operated deadlocks may be permitted where there is a sign posted
on or over the door reading, "THIS DOOR MUST REMAIN UNLOCKED
DURING BUSINESS HOURS" in letters not .less than one-inch in height �
on a contrasting background. UBC Sec. 3304
7. Dol.,.ble Door Hardware: Where exit doors are used in pairs,
' ap?roved automatic flush bolts shall be used on the secondary
leaf. The door having the automatic flush bolts must have no door_

Plans submitted for the above captioned project. need ro be revised per the
following items and resubmitted for review and approval. prior to
construction:
1. Elevator Lobby/corridor: The elevator lobby common corridors
shall comply with Uniform Building Code Section 3305(8&h) for
protected corridors. In the shell building, the corridor walls
extended from floor deck to floor deck. %here HVAC ducts
penetrate or pass through the corridor .alls, fire dampers are
required per Uniform Building Code Chapter 43. Openings for
doorways shall be protected by automatic or self-cl.osing twenty
minute fire door assemblies (door, frame and hardware) and
equipped with smo:,e gaskets.
Note: Fire rated assemblies should be shown on plans including
testing laboratory numbers and complete description of the
assembly, including fastener spacing, types of fasteners and all
materials being used. Door assemblies should be noted as to their
minimum fire resistiveness rating required for a particular site
that they are being installed, as well as inclusion of hardware
packages to be used on them.
