Jeff:
It is my understanding the City inspector had a few questions regarding existing and new conditions
related to the above referenced project:
1. The Simpson HH4 hanger for the 4x8 header over the new bathroom window is more than
adequate to support the roof load above.
2. The existing 1/-3/4"diameter hole through the studs for the vent piping on either side of the
new window is not a problem.
3. You mentioned that existing wall sheathing is stapled rather than nailed and the staples are 16
gauge x 1-1/2"Iong at 6"o/c. In order to provide sufficient strength similar size staples should
be added between the existing to provide a final spacing 2"o/c at the edges. The staple should
be applied with the crown parallel to the framing member and staggered.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
