Purpose: Observe subgrade at Lots 173-175 for stairway and sidewalk
Outstanding Issues: Proof roll road and curb base rock and repair as needed before paving
FR-58 (12/06) - Decommission temporary storm and sewer lines through Tract E
FR-177-Soft fill from slope cut in lots 153, 1 54 and 155
FR-223 - Large roots/organic wooden debris within lot 165 subgrade
Upon arrival, I met with Brian (Polygon Northwest), who directed me to the prepared subgrade for stairways and
sidewalks at Lots 173-175 (see site plan). I observed Lots 176-179 still being excavated to finish grade. At time of
visit, Lots 173-175 did not have any crushed rock placed.
I observed the subgrade to generally consist of brown SILT, some sand. I used a%Z'-diameter steel foundation probe
to evaluate the consistency of the subgrade. Resistances to penetrations indicated medium-stiff to stiff subgrade
conditions, with exception to a soft area located at the corner of Lot 173 (see site plan).The area was approx. 6
square feet and was observed to have water atop it. Subgrade conditions became medium-stiff at approx. 12-in of
penetration.
Based on observations and resistances to penetrations with the foundation probe, the subgrade observed today and
as indicated on the attached site plan, with exception to the soft area at Lot 173, is being prepared in general
accordance with our geotechnical recommendations. We recommend the soft material at Lot 173 be removed and
backfilled with granular structural fill. We recommend a GDI field representative be scheduled to evaluate the
subgrade at Lots 176-179 when prepared.
