Tigard Public Library Board Minutes
MEETING DATE/TIME: Thursday, April 12, 2018 7:00 p.m.

1. CALL TO ORDER:
Chair Katie Harris called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL

Alternate Present: Nina Kung
Staff Present: Library Director Margaret Barnes and Confidential Executive
Assistant Margaret L. Reh.
3. APPROVE MINUTES
The minutes from the March 14, 2018 Board meeting were reviewed. No changes
were suggested.
Motion by Becky Gauthier. Second by Mary Bogert to approve the March 14, 2018
minutes.

4. AGENDA ADDITIONS AND DELETIONS
Since the laptop and projector was already set up and turned on,it was decided to shift
the order of items on the agenda. Item Number 7, Discussion of Joint Meeting with
City Council was moved to Item Number 5 followed by the Discussion of Local
Option Levy, then Library Operations.
5. DISCUSSION OF JOINT MEETING WITH CITY COUNCIL
The Library Board will be meeting with the City Council for their annual Joint Meeting
on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. Board members who will be able to attend are

Katie Harris, Mary Bogert, Becky Gauthier, Jean Hart, Lonn Hoklin and Alternate
Nina Kung. Board members continued preparations for this upcoming meeting with
the Council. Two one minute videos have been created about library programs and
will be shared with the Council as part of this presentation.
6. DISCUSSION OF LOCAL OPTION LEVY
Three levy fact sheets, including a single sheet handout with a focus on the library,
were distributed to the Board. Discussion ensued. The election will take place on
Tuesday, May 15, 2018. The City of Tigard will have a booth set up at the Farmer's
Market on Sunday, May 13 to provide factual information regarding the levy. Nina
Kung and Lonn Hoklin volunteered to work at the booth.
7. LIBRARY OPERATIONS
The March 2018 statistical report was distributed. A brief discussion ensued.
Margaret Barnes mentioned the Volunteer Recognition Event is scheduled for Sunday,
April 22 and inquired which Board members knew if they were going to be able to
attend.
8. OTHER BUSINESS
It was mentioned that the Tigard Friends of the Library books sale begins on Friday,
April 13, 2018.
9. ADJOURNMENT
Chair Harris adjourned the meeting at 7:54 p.m.The next meeting of the Tigard Library
Board is scheduled for Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.
