WHEREAS, the Office of the Municipal Clerk is a vital and valuable part of local
government and the role of the Municipal Clerk is the oldest among public wx_
servants; and
WHEREAS, the role of Municipal Clerk/City Recorder is staffed by knowledgeablegi
professionals dedicated to connecting residents with local governing bodies and ----------------
government agencies; andf' '#F

WHEREAS, the Municipal Clerk serves as the information center on functions of
local government and community programs and activities; and
WHEREAS, Municipal Clerks are proud of their pledge to be remain neutral and
impartial, rendering equal service to all; and

WHEREAS, no other office in municipal government serves so many; namely, the {; `
Mayor and Council, County Commission, City Manager, administrative departments,
and citizens. The recorder's work demands versatility, alertness, accuracy and long 5 ,
hours; and
WHEREAS, Municipal Clerks continually strive to improve the administration of the
affairs of the Office of the Municipal Clerk through participation in educational
programs, seminars, workshops and the annual meetings of their county and state >
professional organizations; and
WHEREAS, it is most appropriate that we recognize the accomplishments and
dedication of the Office of the Municipal Clerk.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, John L. Cook, Mayor of the City of e� -`
Tigard, Oregon, do hereby proclaim May 6-12, 2018 as Municipal Clerk Week and s,T
further extend appreciation to Tigard's City Recorder Carol Krager and Deputy City
Recorder Kelly Burgoyne for the vital services they perform and their exemplary
dedication to the community they represent.
