Report#: 188 Arrival: 0800 Departure: 0945 Weather: Rainy, 50's Permit#: TBD Site Visit Requested By: Ken (Polygon), Brian (Polygon) Met With (on site): Brian(Polygon) Purpose: Observe Subgrade for Lot 71 and Bldg 8(lots 5,6,7,and 8) Outstanding Issues: Proof roll road and curb base rock and repair as needed before paving FR-58 (12/06) Decommission temporary storm and sewer lines through Tract E FR-163 Deflection in roadway FR-177 soft fill from slope cut in lots 153, 154 and 155 Lot 71 Upon arrival, I observed that earthwork crew had prepared lot subgrade for lot 71. Excavated subgrade typically had been covered with a few inches of 3/ inch minus crushed rock that had been keyed in using a small walk behind plate compactor. Excavator said that they had over excavated 18 to 24 inches of soft soil near the road and replaced with compacted % inch minus crushed rock. Excavator said that they had compacted fill using a jumping jack. I used al/4 inch diameter steel "T" probe to evaluate density of the crushed rock fill and consistency of the subgrade. Crushed rock fill was dense, and the brown silt subgrade was generally stiff to medium stiff based on r ,isince to penetration of hz probe. Building 8(Lits 5,6.7.<&8) Brian asked me to observe the subgrade for building 8 in the southwest corner of the site. Subgrade appeared to have been excavated to grade and was covered with a few inches of loose crushed rock. I recommended that this rock be keyed in with a small plate to help protect the subgrade. I observed a few roots in the subgrade and one root ball. The root ball should be removed if it is located underneath a footing. There is also a grounding rod and electrical cables on the west side of the building. The cables and rod appear to be vertical, and according to Brian, is outside of the building envelop. Subgrade generally appeared stiff to medium stiff based on resistance to probing. I observed some gravel fill on the west side of the proposed structure that probed dense to very dense. 3ased on our observations and probing, it is our opinion that Lot 71 and building 8 subgrades have been prepared in general accordance with our geotechnical recommendations.
