TIGARD LIBRARY BOARD
June 14, 1990
MINUTES
Call to Order: 7: 10 p.m. , Vice-chairman Linda Manahan presiding.
Roll Call: Susan Grossen, Carl Kostol, Leslie Wismer
Excused: Amo DeBernardis, Marla Resnick
Absent: Vince Matarrese
Guests: Yvonne Burgess
Staff: Irene Ertell
Reports: Minutes for May 1990 meeting were approved as
written.
Monthly Report for May was distributed by Library
Director. There was a review and a discussion of
the current Youth Services Programs.
Friends of the Library report was presented by
Yvonne Burgess. The Friends are purchasing sound
barriers for the personal computer printers used by
the public. The Friends plan a "Grab Bag Book Sale"
at Cruisin' Tigard on June 28th.
Cooperative Library Advisory Board (CLAB) report was
given by Yvonne Burgess. Burgess' term will expire
in August. The Board will forward a nomination to
City Council at the July meeting. CLAB is urging
library supporters to write the governor and
candidates asking that federal library funds be
used for local library support instead of state
library operations. The CLAB has formed a county-
wide capital improvements committee to study capital
needs. The City of Cornelius has requested that a
portion of their WCCLS funds be reserved for capital
projects to avoid having more WCCLS collected funds
in their budget than City funds.
Recognition Board Update: Library Director reported that
information on volunteers and donors is almost
complete. The Board logo is also being completed.
Budget 1990-91 Update: Library Director reported that the budget
had been approved by the budget committee with only
minor changes. The Library will be open Sunday
afternoon, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the materials budget
will be increased from $75, 000 to $100, 000. The
overall budget increased 35%. The Educational
Service's .5 FTE was increased to 1 FTE.
Adjournment: 8:00 P.M.
Respectfully Submitted,
Irene E. Ertell
Library Director
